September 4, 2026 – Following the release of her debut EP what if it ends? earlier this year and her deeply personal single “tenth of may”, Melbourne singer-songwriter Sidney is ready to turn the page with her new single “when you know you know”, out now via Nettwerk.

If what if it ends? was about sitting inside the uncertainty of a relationship coming undone, and “tenth of may” marked the moment Sidney finally moved beyond it, “when you know you know” is the sound of clarity arriving. It captures the inevitable moment when the fog clears and you finally admit the truth you’ve been trying to avoid – whether you’re sitting alone in the aftermath of a breakdown or watching a friend desperately try to convince themselves that a relationship can still be saved.

Moving between personal vulnerability and an outsiders perspective, the track finds Sidney confronting the familiar ways we rationalise heartbreak. In doing so, her perspective shifts from the immediate pain of indecision and passive heartbreak towards the liberating clarity of hindsight.

“when you know you know” reframes the breakdown as a part of the healing process. The hardest way forward might not have been a mistake at all – it might have been exactly what was needed to get somewhere better.

Sidney shares, “When You Know You Know was initially written about a friend who was navigating a new relationship she wasn’t happy in, but was trying to convince herself otherwise. When we created the demo, the meaning shifted for me. I started hearing it as if I was singing to my younger self, encouraging her not to be afraid of making decisions or getting things wrong, because ultimately those choices lead you to where you need to be. Sometimes no one can tell you the “right” way to go. You just have to make a decision with the knowledge you have at the time and trust yourself enough to take the next step. You couldn’t have known what you know now, and even the decisions that didn’t work out helped get you here.”

SIDNEY “WHEN YOU KNOW YOU KNOW”

Following “tenth of may”, “when you know you know” marks the official beginning of Sidney’s next chapter. Where that song looked back on the date that was supposed to be her wedding day and finding freedom in the decision to move forward, this new single looks at what happens when that clarity finally settles in.

It offers the first glimpse of a new body of work from Sidney, one that expands her songwriting lens beyond the romantic relationship at the centre of her debut EP and towards the wider lessons, challenges, and moments of self-discovery that come with moving forward.

The release follows a huge year for Sidney, who has taken her music to stages across Australia alongside Hazlett and Josh Pyke, performed in NOVA’s Red Room, travelled to Nashville to write new music, and announced her first-ever headline tour.

Sidney is currently taking her new music on the road, with audiences in Melbourne and Brisbane getting an early live preview of “when you know you know” ahead of its official release. She will now bring this new chapter to Sydney’s Low 302 on September 17, marking the final date of her current Australian run.
