Melbourne’s own Dom Dolla returns to his hometown as Flemington Racecourse is transformed into a pulsating dance arena. The crowd is buzzing with excitement and there’s an infectious energy in the air from the moment the gates open.
The rave kicks off with a stellar lineup of supporting acts including JNETT and Torren Foot back-to-back with Airworlf Paradise. Flight Facilities delivers a sensational set filled with popular tracks to get the party started and work hard to choose the right songs to get everyone dancing and singing along.
Tonight is the last of Dom Dolla’s largest-ever run of Australian shows and he’s playing his home turf which is a special moment to culminate his his career-defining year that’s seen him skyrocket to success.
He takes to the stage just after 9 o’clock as the sun is setting and he stands upon a raised stage high above the crowd of more than 30,000 people ready to dance. “Holy shit, it’s good to be home,” shouts Dom Dolla.
The atmosphere is electric, and the stage ignites with enormous flames shooting up to the sky to the beat of the pounding bass of a new unreleased track ‘Dreamin,’ and the crowd already know all the words to the club-fuelled anthem.
The incredible display of entrancing visuals and pyrotechnics amplify his performance with streams of laser lights, fireworks, smoke cannons and flames around the stage and at the top of towers spread far and wide across the racecourse. We’re completely immersed in his world of tech-house.
Dom Dolla shares a masterful blend of his biggest hitsincluding fan favourites ‘Rhyme Dust’, ‘Eat Your Man’, ‘You’ and ‘Take It’ that are seamlessly mixed to keep the energy at an all-time high. The crowd erupts with excitement and can’t get enough of tracks ‘Saving Up’ and ‘girl$’ so much so he plays them twice throughout the night to the audience’s delight.
“This is seriously a dream come true, I fucking love you guys!” Exclaims Dom Dolla, as he feeds off the crowd’s energy and returns it back with banger after banger to maintain a steady momentum to ensure the entire crowd ismoving in unison. Even after a couple of pauses to help punters in the crowd, he handles the situation like a pro and brings the vibe right back up like nothing happened.
It’s Dom Dolla’s last hometown show for a while, so he asks crowd to give him more energy as he levels it up for the lasthalf an hour of his set starting off with ‘Miracle Maker,’ followed by a remix of DJ Sammy’s Heaven to send punters into a frenzy.
In the final moments the stage fades to black and just when we think it’s over, he’s got one last surprise to unleash as special guest Tove Lo joins him on stage to sing live. Together they perform two tracks including a remixed version of her iconic track ‘Stay High’ and their recent collaboration ‘Cave’ which is their debut live Australian performance – a truly unforgettable moment.
Fireworks erupt in the sky to culminate the end of anincredible night of music to celebrate the last show of Dom Dolla’s homecoming tour and leaving us excited for what he does next.
