A rainy Thursday Melbourne night was treated to the cheerful and rhythmic by HONNE – The English electronic music duo from London. With the rough weather outside of Forum, performing tracks from their 2016 hit album Warm on a Cold Night seemed nothing but appropriate.
After Lawrence’s incredible set with a great acoustic piece, the headliner opened with a brief performance-piece from their latest album Ouch! with the main character coming on to sweep the stage and woo the crowd. The stage freshly swept, crowd engagement, the duo entered and launched into tracks from their discography.
Imaginary had great synth rhythm filled with flute and sax notes. free love and its classic bop had the barricade of HONNE-goers all shouting the chorus back to the duo. Lean on Me filled Forum with some higher pitch soul and drum kicks. The rest of the evening had a great spread of HONNE’s most popular pieces to take the Melbourne crowd through their decade of electronic soul.
With just a quick 2-show stop in Sydney and now Melbourne before they continue their tour to the Philippines and Japan, the local synth and electronic scene are excited to welcome the duo back soon.
HONNE’s latest album Ouch! is available to stream on all music platforms, with the Vinyl and CD available to order from JB Hi-Fi.
