Morcheeba

The Forum

The house lights to the iconic Forum dim as Skye Edwards saunters onto the stage in a flamenco inspired dress and broad brimmed hat. Opening with ‘ The Sea’ guitarist Ross Godfrey leads the show into what is to be an entertaining night. Back in Australia, after a successful appearance at Bluesfest in 2022, Morcheeba have a solid fan base that dance to every note, swaying in unison to the beat. The show is sold out and the venue is completely packed in like sardines in a tin can.

Playing a variety of songs from ‘Never an Easy Way’ to ‘ Enjoy the Ride’, Edwards goes off script for a very seductive version of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and the crowd suddenly are in love. Everyone is united in song, a joyous moment that is completely unexpected. Edwards vocals are smooth as silk and she dances, the crowd mesmerized.

Moving through the set list with “Trigger Hippy”, ” Part of the Process” and ” Blood Like Lemonade” the band performs in sync never missing a beat. During ” Enjoy the Ride” Ross notices a patron that is in distress and calls for assistance, pausing the show until the patron is assisted. This is an exceptional display of leading by example, the venue assisting as quickly as possible.

Skye Edwards is a seductress that will invite you into her world, entice you to stay for just a little while and draw you in with her enigmatic vocals. She is graceful, enticing and as she dances around the stage, never missing a single note, immersed completely in the music and thriving on the energy the crowd is creating.
