Indie-pop act The Million today have taken over [fictitious] new date show Kiss or Miss for their official video ‘Somebody Better’ and have announced headline shows for Melbourne and Sydney in December.
The Million says about the new video, “After meeting Sejon for the first time to plan the video, we couldn’t wait to start filming. Our collective ideas really came to life on the day and we had a blast working with him and the whole crew. Getting to shoot on VHS gave the video an authentically cheesy 80’s touch and really drove the story home. The shoot flew by and we had so much fun on set, which we hope translates on screen.”
The video, directed by Sydney cinematographer Sejon Im (Cosmo’s Midnight, Graace), is something special. For the narrative, Tamon is an over-the-top game show host who hates his role, Jay is an incompetent boom operator who eventually gets fired, and Jacob, well Jacob is a contestant looking for love. Stories will intertwine and will indirectly help each other get to a better place.

With its vibrant and rhythmic energy, the ‘Somebody Better’ video marries perfectly with the personalities of the guys.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2017 with their debut EP Hydration Station, the trio have been making some noise locally and internationally. Managed by War Road Management – the team behind Nothing But Thieves, The Wrecks, and founders of Drive-Thru Records – The Million’s ‘Somebody Better’ was deemed by Mystic Sons as “bringing the same psychedelic tones as Glass Animals” and indie midlands calling it “in the same vein as acts like fellow countrymen Methyl Ethel.”
Having sold out their single launch at Oxford Art Factory last month, The Million announced today headline shows at the Grace Darling in Melbourne and at the Factory Floor in Sydney. Tickets are on sale today from 10am.
