Bluesfest Byron Bay Nominated for Best International Music Festival for the Ninth Time
Only Australian music festival to be shortlisted in the Pollstar Awards since 2007!

Iconic music festival, Byron Bay Bluesfest has been nominated for Best International Music Festival by music industry trade publication, Pollstar. The International Music Festival of the Year Award recognises the most artistically and commercially successful festival of the year outside of the United States which provides the most rewarding experience for fans and artists. Other festivals nominated are Glastonbury Festival UK, Isle of Wight Festival UK, British Summer Time Hyde Park UK, Primavera Sound Spain and Rock in Rio, Brazil.
Commenting on the announcement, Festival Director, Peter Noble OAM said “To be included in a shortlist of the world’s greatest music festivals alongside so many incredible events is such an honour. Congratulations to everyone involved. The Bluesfest team, all the festival contractors and the artists are who make it all happen but a special thank you to each and every person who attended our 30th birthday celebration. We have every intention of presenting our best-ever festival in 2020 and to hopefully be nominated for the 10th time in 2020!”

The Pollstar Award nominations were selected by the company’s largest, most diverse, and most international nominating committee ever. This was a direct result of Pollstar’s outreach efforts to more than 2,500 agents, promoters, managers, venues, production companies and many others in the live industry across the globe.
After celebrating its 30th Anniversary in April 2019, this is another milestone achievement for Australia’s most awarded music festival which has come out on top of the Pollstar and Billboard box office scores several times in the past.

Ray Waddell, president of OVG Media & Conferences who produce the prestigious international industry awards said “The nominees for the 31st annual Pollstar Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement in live entertainment this year and reflect our ongoing efforts to present the most relevant recognition for the highest achieving artists and professionals that make up this great business”.

The Pollstar Awards ceremony will close the Pollstar Live! Conference, the entirety of which runs from February 4-6 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, USA. Bluesfest 2020 is being held from 9 – 13 April 2019. Tickets are on sale now through bluesfest.com.au/tickets
