Breakthrough Australian singer and songwriter Peach PRC reveals an emotionally charged new single and official video, ‘Heavy’. Listen to ‘Heavy’ HERE via Island Records Australia & Republic Records.
On the track, she leans into melodic piano with vulnerable vocals and poetically plaintive lyrics. She holds each note with raw emotion as the hook rings out, “It’s all I’ve been told, I’m heavy to hold.”
The official video, shot in Sydney was directed by Stephanie Jane Day (Sloan Peterson, Holly Throsby, Emma Russack)
Stephanie says, “The film we made for Peach PRC’s Heavy embraces the more interior and vulnerable side of us all, the isolation of feeling like a difficult person and knowing that you have a lot to give despite it. Finding peace and acceptance in the things you don’t have and can’t control.
I wanted to indulge on Peach’s behalf and take all this to a place of peace and beauty. I wanted the film to complement the song – I wanted Peach to know that even though she feels heavy – she has everything she needs to soar”.
Peach PRC initially teased ‘Heavy’ on her TikTok. It ignited 523K views and 111K “likes” on just a clip and stoked anticipation among audiences. It has notably emerged as “the most requested song from her core fan base” since her explosive breakout, certified Gold selling single ‘Josh.’
However, she has remained prolific, sharing a two-track Holiday bundle of anti-Christmas bops ‘I’ve Been Bad, Santa’ and ‘Christmas Kinda Sucks’. Listen HERE
Local and international press continue to rave about Peach PRC, Vogue Australia hailing “She’s the pop princess we don’t deserve” and continues with “everything from mental health struggles to relationship breakups – flowed effortlessly into a catalogue of hyper-curated, punchy pop.”
Her previous single ‘Symptomatic’ has already amassed more than 4 million streams. Meanwhile, coup de main called it “magnificent,” and NME praised, “the catchy track serves as a somewhat serious and relatable about mental health, wrapped in a sugary electro-pop exterior.”
Peach PRC unveiled her debut single ‘Josh’ earlier this year. It has already gathered 10 million-plus streams and received widespread critical acclaim. PAPER Mag raved, “it’s a bombastic first look for the freshly minted pop star that sacrifices none of the chaotic whimsy that endeared fans to her in the first place,” and Refinery29 noted, “Peach PRC takes her ex’s obsession and turns it into a pop song, and it’s kind of perfect. (Leave her alone, Josh.)”
ABOUT PEACH PRC: Peach PRC takes the things you only say on text to close friends (or exes) and turns them into pop that shimmers as much as it singes. The rising pop star packs an often-unbelievable journey from writing and recording in her bedroom to social media phenomenon into smart, slick, and sweet songs with a bold bite. Equally funny and sensitive, she holds nothing back when it comes to life’s ups and downs, mental health, and everything in between. She has already built an audience of 1.5 million-plus TikTok followers, generated over 30 million combined artist streams, and attracted acclaim from BuzzFeed, Vogue Australia, NME, triple j and more. Launching her TikTok page in 2019, she organically attracted an audience by posting everything from funny moments to self-care advice and, of course, music. A snippet of her first single “Blondes” played over the background of a video where she discussed the track’s meaning, and it went viral. The full version eventually amassed over 7 million Spotify streams as she maintained this momentum with the follow-up ‘Colourblind’, racking up another 2.7 million Spotify streams. Along the way, she carefully cultivated an undeniable style with a twist. That twist defines her debut single ‘Josh,’ the ultimate kiss-off to the worst ex ever and has already received over 16 million streams and counting. Peach PRC followed up the success of ‘Josh’ with her self-proclaimed girly camp pop single ‘Symptomatic’, which has already racked up over 3 million streams and still counting. “Heavy” is the new single from Peach PRC. It shows a new side to her, turning the tempo way down and instead setting the weight of her brutalising mental struggles to a delicate, evocative piece of pop balladry.
