After a stellar year of releases and touring alongside Thelma Plum and Client Liaison, Woodes has today released a very special double side release, featuring two new singles, ‘This is My Year’ and ‘Canada feat. LANKS’. Just in time for the holidays, the tracks were inspired by the holiday season with Woodes discussing the high’s and low’s of Christmas time. While the singles are sonically different, the double side really captures the spirit of the season.

Written across continents, Woodes worked with collaborator Scott Effman on ‘This is My Year’ who has previously worked with Woodes on ‘Dots’, ‘How Long I’d Wait’ and more. The intimate track discusses ‘new years energy’, a feeling Woodes loves. “I love everyone’s optimism and the way we reflect, summing up chapters. I remember so many New Years eves really vividly. Fresh starts, fireworks. I love how everyone unites and cheers with strangers, all focusing on the future. Every year I find myself watching parts of my own resolutions unravel and slowly think “it’s ok, next year”. There have been some big changes in my family thisyear, and this song really feels special when I perform it. We always want to be better, do better.”

‘Canada’ employs swelling drums and subdued synths to capture the Christmas season. Woodes collaborated on ‘Canada’ with long time friend LANKS, telling the story of a close family friend. She explains, “Each year, with passing and reflection, Christmas holds a sadness and a beautiful light. I was thinking a lot about patterns in family when I wrote Canada.”
