A festival called PANAMA – dubbed the “unicorn of festivals” for its eclectic and critically acclaimed line-ups, pristine Tasmanian forested site, and punters who refuse to litter – is returning with a 5th-year line-up that shows the event is starting to gain serious traction with international bands looking to tour Australia.
Leading the first announcement sees Brooklyn indie darlings GRIZZLY BEAR making their way to Lone Star Valley to share cuts off their new record, ‘Painted Ruins’, for a lucky 1500 ticket holders.
That’s right – there’s not a zero missing there – PANAMA releases just 1500 tickets a year.
Also heading the bill is renowned producer, bandleader and yacht rock revivalist, THUNDERCAT – taking to the stage on Sunday, March 11th in support of his critically acclaimed 2017 release ‘Drunk’.
Add to this queer icon and art rock juggernaut PERFUME GENIUS, world-beating Australian rapper SAMPA THE GREAT, one-woman house party ALICE IVY, and the synth-heavy bangers of GL and you can see why PANAMA has a history of swift sell outs.
Following in the footsteps of the late Charles Bradley, Daptone soul legend LEE FIELDS and THE  EXPRESSIONS are also making it to PANAMA this year. Proclaimed “The coolest motherfucker to ever sing words into a microphone” by VICE, Lee will be an exciting addition to PANAMA’s 5th-year celebrations.
PANAMA will also welcome Melbourne producer GHOSTING presenting his project, “Reimagining Miyazaki” live for the first time as well as sets from rising local acts like HAIKU HANDS, SLOW DANCER and CLEA.
PANAMA also offers late-night cabaret, morning yoga, afternoon storytelling, delicious pop-up food stalls and amazing Tasmanian produce from local brewers, vineyards and distillers.
Tickets go on sale along with the second (and final) announce on Tuesday, November 21st at 9 am AEDT via
