Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) invites you to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with family and friends at its annual Spirit of Christmas concerts on 22 December and on 23 December 2017.
The Centre is proud to announce its 2017 Spirit of Christmas concerts will star acclaimed Australian musical theatre performing artists; Simon Gleeson, revered for his role as Jean Valjean in the 2016 Australian revival production and 2017 London season of Les Misérables, and Alinta Chidzey, Green Room Award (Best Supporting Actress in Lead Role in Chess 2013); and Helpmann Award ® nominee (Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role, 2011 West Side Story), who is returning to the Spirit of Christmas stage for the third time since 2012.
QPAC also welcomes back Sofie Formica, Channel Seven’s Great Day Out presenter, to host the popular concerts with accompanying music performed by the magnificent Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Simon Kenway.
The delightful combined voices of the QPAC Choir, Brisbane Chorale, Brisbane Birralee Voices and Voices of Birralee will be accompanied by the Brisbane Bells Handbell Orchestra. Inspirational Botswana born community leader Sharon Orapeleng will also return to the Spirit of Christmas stage to deliver the Christmas message.
Julia McRae returns as guest soprano for Spirit of Christmas after the Australian tour of My Fair Lady (Directed by Dame Julie Andrews) and Shubshri Kandiah, a recent Musical Theatre graduate from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, will also make her Spirit of Christmas debut.
