Fuelled by a love for wild nights out, hard hitting rock, and pints of their very own locally brewed malt liquor, Brisbane’s The Dollar Bill Murrays are following up their acclaimed sophomore EP with the playfully overdriven single “Dancing with Death” and a January east coast tour.
The first release since their ‘Always On’ EP in April 2017, The Dollar Bill Murrays are tapping into their more peculiar after-dark experiences for the new infectiously-groovy single “Dancing With Death” – produced by Brock Weston (Bugs) at Bedlam Studios and mastered by Tyson Ruth at Studio Truth.
There’s touches of cowbell, cheeky counter licks, and more than enough crashing cymbals and furious strumming to have late-night revellers bouncing along to the after-dark rock gem.
Sounds Like: Arctic Monkeys, Queens of The Stone Age, Death From Above 1979, Franz Ferdinand
Written about those seemingly innocuous nights that pan out completely differently to how they began, the track is a gritty dance-rock number that encourages all to ignore their daytime sensibilities – “Nights were made to make mistakes, dance with me until light breaks”.
In support of their latest release “Dancing With Death”, The Dollar Bill Murrays will play several headline shows along Australia’s east coast over the summer months.
“The song came from late nights in Fortitude Valley, watching people throwing themselves into the night without a care, with no idea of what’ll happen. Join us for one of our live shows, and let’s do the dance together,” says singer Felix Lindgren.
2017 has seen Brisbane quartet release plenty of new music, produce their debut music video, embark on their first interstate tour (in support of EP ‘Always On’), sign with Brisbane boutique label Valley Heat Records, support several established acts including The Delta Riggs, and brew their own award-winning lager – Bill F. Murray Malt Liquor (the ‘f’ stands for f*cking) – with All Inn Brewing Co.
Just last month, the quartet collaborated with Brisbane producer SHVRDZ on his remix of their breakthrough single “Medicine” – listen HERE. The Dollar Bill Murrays are also raising funds for Australian music industry Support Act, with a percentage of proceeds from every beer sold through their partnership with All Inn Brewing Co. to be donated to the crucial foundation.
In April this year the quartet released their sophomore EP ‘Always On’, spearheaded by singles “I Want Everything” and “The More You Know”. The eventful five days of recording on Queensland’s Gold Coast saw each band member struck down by “some kind of bubonic plague”. The EP has since received international radio plays and the singles have clocked over 100k streams on Spotify
The EP also saw the first collaboration with Brisbane boutique label Valley Heat Records, who co-released the EP with a limited-run of hand-numbered cassette tapes.
Lyrically written about “the issues of this hyper-connected, always on world”, the 5-track EP skilfully captures feelings of frustration and inevitable change with a diverse, brooding assortment of alt-rock tracks coated in grungy bravado and fierce instrumentation.
