Homesurgury recordings Launch Party
Music legend and studio Over Lord Tom Larkin, of the band Shihad has rebranded ‘The Studio’s In The City’ a studio that has seen the likes of Calling All Cars, Villainy Young And The Restless, High Tension, The Getaway Plan, Northeast Party House and The VANNS walk through its prestigious doors over the last decade to record some of the highest selling albums on the ARIA charts. With the studio undergoing an upgrade it was time for a new name, and what better way to christen it with beers, pizza and some of Australia’s top musicians on hand to celebrate.
Melbourne’s premier recording studio in the back alley ways of Brunswick in Melbourne was the centre of the evening’s launch party and celebration. On hand to help launch the event were some of local and interstate’s music heavy weights with members from Powderfinger,The Delta Riggs, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Batz, Strangers, Fight The Sun to name a few.
The studio has a retro feel, however it boasts an impressive line up of equipment – including an API 1608 Console, Allan Smart C2 stereo compressor, Empirical Labs Fatso EL7, Purple Audio MC77 and a range of dynamic microphones including the Beyer M88 to round out what is one remarkable looking studio.
“We have now arrived at a point where that manifesto now flows through the whole studio, it made sense to refocus the team and the studio under the ‘Homesurgery’ banner. Its a name that speaks to both the our collective respect for craft and detail, through to the ethos of providing a comfortable. relaxed and creative environment around the artist “ Tom Larkin.
With an equally impressive list of clients including All the Colours, BodyJar, The Butterfly Effect, Ceres, Super Best Friends, Dream on Dreamer the new upgrades will take the studio to another level so that Tom and his team can continue to produce award winning albums. That alone is worth the beers and pizza to celebrate.
