Women in music are inspiring with their creativity, power and ability to make amazing music. Whether it be Janis Joplin with her raspy vocals, Kate Miller- Heidke’s ability to move audiences with her haunting vocals or Madonna’s brave stereotype smashing, women in music are amazing.
So today we are celebrating amazing women in music on International Women’s Day by asking amazing women in music who inspire them.
Kylie Auldist is at center stage of the funk, soul and disco scene in Australia. Described by The Music as “Melbourne’s high priestess of soul”, Kylie has a distinctive voice that can run the gamut from soaring vocal pyrotechnics to heart-wrenching tenderness, and her energy on stage is absolutely electric – with a huge dose of boogie power to boot. You are definitely invited to the party but you had better be able to keep up! Kylie’s latest album, Family Tree, saw her shift in style to embrace her love of contemporary electronic dance music, and features influences from the hedonistic, golden age of disco, funk and boogie.
We found out from Kylie who the Top Women who inspire her are.
My mum- Jan Auldist
My mum has raised 4 awesome kids, had a great marriage and still runs a farming business with my brothers. She’s funny, beautiful, intelligent, strong and kind. Pretty much like all the women I’ve chosen.
Julia Zemiro- blindingly intelligent and funny. Holds her own and should probably be prime minister.
Dallas Frasca- super nice chick who never rests. She gives back to the youth and the disadvantaged and never stops reaching out.
I love her energy and enthusiasm. She rocks!!
Emma Donovan– amazing voice, beautiful person and I love singing with her. When she sings she soars. Gives me Goosebumps every time.
Chrissy Amphlett she was the ultimate hard working rock chick. She didn’t try to be a man but she succeeded in a male driven arena without apology. She paved the way for a lot of women.
