Women in music are inspiring with their creativity, power and ability to make amazing music. Whether it be Janis Joplin with her raspy vocals, Kate Miller- Heidke’s ability to move audiences with her haunting vocals or Madonna’s brave stereotype smashing, women in music are amazing.
So today we are celebrating amazing women in music on International Women’s Day by asking amazing women in music who inspire them.
The Venus Project aka Georgia Nott from Broods has just delivered her advanced album of her debut The Venus Project: Vol 1. The album is now up on PLAY MPE for you to listen to. This project is very special indeed especially inspiring for women especially those undiscovered females in the arts.
We found out from Georgia who the Top Five Women in Music that inspire her are.
Tove Lo – I have so much respect for this woman. I have seen her kill it so many times on stage and every time I hear new music from her I get so proud (and ever so slightly jealous that I didn’t make it). Her talent is nowhere near as praised and appreciated as it should be.
Rihanna – I LOVE RIHANNA! She can do no wrong in my eyes. She kills it live, has an incredibly strong instinct for new trends and owns herself so well. I loved when I saw her live and she took a moment at the end of her show to so sincerely thank everyone on her team for helping her make each show happen. Not one role was left unrecognized and I think that speaks a lot about her.
Kehlani – Again, out of control live performer. I couldn’t believe the perfection that came from her mouth when I saw her live. I also really respect who she represents as a person. Her openness about what she stands for on social media is so inspiring.
Natasha Kahn – Also known as ‘Bat for Lashes’, she has been a huge inspiration for me as a song writer. Her album ‘Haunted Man’ is one of my favourite albums of all time. I’ve always been in awe of the way she writes lyrics. The pictures she paints are so beautiful. Her song ‘Laura’ is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
Elliphant – This amazing person has been a huge inspiration recently on a very personal level for me. I have always loved her voice and her music and she’s is an ultimate badass. I was lucky enough to get to know her at a writing camp and I’ve never met anyone quite like her. She is the kind of person that sees the world with more than just her eyes. I’ve learnt so much by just listening to her speak and tell stories and I have found a new respect for myself AS myself being around her. She is really something!!
