Neon Queen ensured they saw out 2017 on a positive note, with the release of “Livin/Breathin” further establishing the Melbourne four-piece as one of the city’s most exciting up and coming bands. Now, with a fresh year upon them, Neon Queen aren’t resting on any laurels.
With the release of their new single “Free My Mind”, Neon Queen have continued to finesse their approach to making music that captures the infectious energy from their live shows in studio, while producing sounds that drip in R&B sultriness. Harmonically strong, “Free My Mind” is driven by the smooth lead vocals of Kriss Lisati; shimmering synths join strong production and guitars as Lisati yearns for idyllic nights and long days with that certain someone in the summer.
““Free My Mind” marks a reinvention of Neon Queen’s sound for 2018 fully embracing our R&B and Rock roots and bringing the past into the present with Melbourne soul.” – Neon Queen
Neon Queen’s reputation as a frenetic live band is one music fans on the east coast will be able to bear witness to in March and April, when the band hit the road with ‘Free My Mind’ and a stack of tunes that will be welcome return for long time fans and newcomers alike. Having already supported the likes of Sticky Fingers, The Vanns, Boo Seeka and Bootleg Rascal, while also cutting their teeth on festival stages alongside acts including Moses Gunn Collective, Confidence Man and Gretta Ray, Neon Queen have been turning an ambition of being a formidable and in-demand Melbourne export into a reality in recent years.
With this upcoming tour set to demonstrate the band’s love for injecting some raw rock energy into an already strong formula for live performance, Neon Queen are set to welcome more fans into the fold with ‘Free My Mind’, while proving they can meet up to the expectations of those who have been along with them for the ride since 2015.
