Built on punchy guitar riffs, a driving rhythm section and powerful, otherworldly vocals, BackBlast promises to punch you in the gut. The members of the band are Chris Tamberella (Drums), Dan Cunningham (lead vocals), Adam Pritcher (Guitar & Vocals), Jake Ford (Lead Guitar) and Wilsen Rivera (bass).
We caught up with the band to find out their TOP FIVE FAVE SONGS
Lamb of God: Redneck.
All of the members of BackBlast are big Lamb of God fans. Their power, technical ability and raw vocals are difficult to ignore. They are also a Richmond VA based band so we know we have at least one thing in common with them. This particular track amps us up and the video is rather funny.
Arch Enemy: War Eternal.
We have a few Arch Enemy fans in our band. Three of us even went to an Arch Enemy show recently in Baltimore but only two actually saw them play but that is another story all together 😉. The current makeup of the band with Alissa White-Gluz on vocals and Jeff Loomis (Adam’s favorite guitar player) makes them a serious force in the metal landscape. They have an infectious melody to the guitars, wicked drums and a driving power to each track.
Black Sabbath: Heaven and Hell
We all love Black Sabbath and Dio (especially Dan) so we wanted to love both some love with this choice. For whatever reason, Ronnie James Dio is sometimes forgotten or taken for granted as a member of Black Sabbath. This track is outstanding on many levels. and the combo of Dio’s voice and Sabbath’s doomy sound is a stroke of brilliance.
Pantera: Cowboys from Hell
Pantera has to be one of, if not the, godfathers of metal. They are directly in your face from the jump with their sound and attitude, they don’t apologize for it and back up their talk with their music. Their “We’re taking over this town” mentality is exactly how a metal band should be thinking. BackBlast certainly appreciates Pantera’s approach to music and life.
System of a Down: Toxicity
Point #1: this is an outstanding song that seems like a roller coaster ride with it’s ups and downs. Point #2: this album is very important in the trajectory of metal and serves as a landmark to bands like BackBlast that followed it’s release. Point #3: this is a technical masterpiece when you take a good look at it. They may seem crazy but these guys create unique, powerful music. And the members of BackBlast (and millions of others) hope they create more.
