UNDER THE SOUTHERN STARS
Announce Exciting Partnership with NASCA
The National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy

Delivering culturally connected and holistic learning to
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
The Under The Southern Stars spectacular rock music concert series is thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA)

The concert series sees 11 events taking place from April 30 to May 16 and features global rock superstars, Cheap Trick, Bush and the Stone Temple Pilots along with Australian rock heritage Rose Tattoo and Electric Mary.

NASCA is an Indigenous governed and led organisation that works in collaboration with schools and communities for meaningful and lasting impact. The organisation works closely with Indigenous communities to strengthen cultural pride & identity, and to build life-skills, personal development and long-term resilience.

UTSS is thrilled to offer NASCA’s young First Nations program participants the opportunity for work experience at selected events, giving them hands-on, backstage insight into the music industry. NASCA will be facilitating a Welcome to Country at selected concert sites, honouring the traditional owners of the land upon which the concerts are staged.

NASCA’s evidence-based programs improve outcomes for young Indigenous people, especially in regards to Year 12 attainment which has a major impact on socioeconomic outcomes.

NASCA works with 19 schools across the country and will introduce another 13 Academies in NSW this year, delivering Indigenous-led, strength based services to over 2500 young people with over 12,000 hours of face-to-face programs. NASCA has supported more than 10,000 young First Nations people over the past 25 years!

NASCA CEO Leanne Townsend, comments, “NASCA is thrilled to be associated with the Under the Southern Stars Festival. The challenge of staging a national festival during COVID takes determination, resilience and love of culture, all qualities that are represented in our young First Nations People.

Event promoter, Andrew McManus adds; “I am proud to be working with NASCA and Indigenous kids giving them the opportunity to experience how a festival is built from the ground up, the concert and performances up close on show day. Very excited to see their smiles and satisfaction
