Fans gathered to unite under the roof of Festival Hall to indulge The Flaming Lips play their iconic album ‘ Yoshi Battles The Pink Robots’. The psychedelic album was a groundbreaking piece for the band and to celebrate they kick off the show with three huge pink robots flanking the band.
Lead singer Wayne Coyne encourages the audience to clap more, as the atmosphere isn’t quite at the levels he wants as they play the album in it’s entirety. Large balloons filled with confetti bounce around the room as Coyne proves to the audience what a showman he is, by bouncing around the stage.
Taking a short break the band returns to play classics, deep cuts and fan favourites, kicking off with ‘ She Don’t Use Jelly’. Followed quickly by Riding to Work in the Year 2025 (Your Invisible Now)’ ‘Christmas at the Zoo’ ‘ Love Yer Brain’ and ‘ The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song (With All Your Power)’
With the temperature outside soaring, The Flaming Lips brings a high energy show to Melbourne audiences and one that has delighted hard core fans.
