Sophie Hutchings, The Gunnery, Sydney.
An evening at the historic The Gunnery in Wollomooloo saw ARIA award winning pianist Sophie Hutchings play a beautiful live performance as part of a prerelease screening of Max Richter’s new album Sleep Circle. The crowd was introduced to the night by being encouraged to make themselves comfortable on the cushions and beanbags scattered around the venue and encouraged to drift along to the dulcet tones of composer Max Richter.
Sophie Hutchings played an elegantly gilded exposed upright piano, supported by bandmates on guitar and synth, they made a hypnotic, shimmery dreamscape. Photographer Josh Pike went along to capture the restful ambiance.
