Shawn Mendes, Melbourne

.
Thousands of teenage girls screamed as Shawn hit the stage. Opening with his instantly recognisably pop upbeat tracks, ‘Lost in Japan’, ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ me Back’ and ‘Nervous’ got everyone standing from the get go. The energy in the room continued as he played hit after hit.

Mentioning that, “I dont get to play 3 shows in many cities” made the crowd swoon even more as he continued to win over all of his dedicated fans with his personality and of course his music.

Halfway through the set he moved over to a second stage where he sang a song to each side of the room, connecting the entire stadium. The feeling of being connected, youthful and confident were all themes of the night as Shawn continued to emphasise that “we have the power to change anything.”

After several guitar solos and battering of screams from the crowd , Shawn slowed down the pace and played some of his very first releases that entranced the hard core fans. His musical talent was no match for the chaperones who were completely converted by the end of the show. Recording video, clapping along and dancing with their kids, proving that Shawn was there to connect and celebrate having an awesome time with him.

The encore brought more hits like ‘Mercy’, ‘In My Blood’ and a cover of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ which only made the crowd want more. As the show came to an end, confetti exploded throughout the arena while the final goodbyes and cheers were being held.

It can only be expected that the rest of the tour will continue with the positive high energy vibes that Shawn exuded.
