Moana, the creative project of artist Moana Mayatrix, once described by Triple J’s Gemma Pike as one of Australia’s fiercest front women will release their debut album In The Allure this Friday, November 8 via Mysteria Maxima Music.
Since the group’s inception in 2013, countless words have been written about the avant garde art rock outfit, all edging around the idea that there is something otherworldly, verging on genuinely dangerous, about this act.
Combining the shamanic stream-of-consciousness poetry of peak- era Patti Smith with psychedelic melodies, heavy guitar licks, and propulsive rhythms, Moana doesn’t so much craft songs as pagan prayers set to the heartbeat of the world.

Coz who doesn’t want a comfy couch after a show and coz velvet is the ultimate texture to get you feeling frisky pre-show. If I was going to be real specific I’d say dark blue, dark red or dark green. Colour is important ok.

I like to scream and get weird with my vocal warmups pre-show and dance around like a crazy cat, what better music to do it to than bangers from the 80s while Willow practises shreds and Austin and Lochy boogie and giggle. Dream.
