Photo Credit: Kane Hibberd On the eve of their summer arena tour with Keith Urban, Ozrock titans Birds Of Tokyo drop a shimmering new track called “Daylight”. The infectious, California-tinged tune was produced by the band’s guitarist Adam Spark and mixed by Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Sigur Ros, The Killers, Sam Fender). “Daylight” swells like a sunrise so, appropriately, it was a new beginning for the band as well. With members now spread across three states, it is the first time the whole line-up has been able to record in the same space since their album Human Design hit #1 in the early days of the pandemic. “I kind of forgot what it sounds like when we’re all playing together in real time”, explains Adam Spark. “It just felt really fresh to be all working in one room after a couple of years of closed borders and all that. Maybe that’s why this song feels so hopeful?” Kenny adds “After not really being able to share space together for two years we found a kind of rejuvenation in the studio this time round. Things felt new again. Daylight is our beacon song leading us into clearer and brighter days ahead.”
Filmed by the band’s long-time creative collaborator, Kane Hibberd, the accompanying video is a fly on the wall glimpse of the band finally getting back into the studio.
