Reflecting on the track, Hazlett shares: “I think we all have a little bit of that quit-before-it-hurts mentality built into us. Whether it’s right or wrong, I think the world has molded us to be like that to keep us safe. I’m not above it either. I’ve spent so much of my life wanting music to work and save me that it’s come at the cost of my personal life. Always on the move, always on the run, and never being able to slow down until I’ve reached the end. But the end never comes if you keep changing what it is. Just like a home doesn’t feel like home unless you stay a while.”
This summer, Hazlett will bring his heartfelt storytelling to audiences across the globe with a series of high-profile festival performances, including BottleRock Napa Valley, Outside Festival, Langs Akerselva Festival, Bourbon and Beyond, Iron Blossom Music Festival and BST Hyde Park where he will support Noah Kahan. In September, he’ll be supporting Vance Joy with four amphitheater dates.
As a follow-up to his recent successes, “blue jean” offers another glimpse into Hazlett’s evolving artistry and emotional depth, with more music and updates on the horizon.
