Pat Tierney releases his latest single ‘My Sweet Love’

North Coast NSW based lap slide guitarist and roots troubadour Pat Tierney provides a glimpse of his forthcoming album with the single ‘My Sweet Love’. Taking influence from the likes of Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Ben Harper, Tierney’s music dances between folk, blues, roots and soul. Traditional country motifs become a vehicle for Tierney’s contemplations on life.

Having just returned from touring U.S Tierney comments, ‘”Travelling to the States was a dream come true, I spent some most of my time in California travelling around and soaking it all up. Lot’s if writing. I played a couple of ‘Sofar Sounds’ shows in San Francisco and an amazing house concert in the forest outside of the city. I was blown away by the hospitality and support. I’m looking to take my new album back there in 2020 and continue to build over there and see what can happen in such a bigger market. ”

Over the past 18 months, Tierney has toured across the country with the likes of Australian rock legend Russell Morris, roots reggae lords The Beautiful Girls and good friends Bobby Alu to name a few, spending time in between recording his second album ‘Red Moon’, set for release this September. The video for ‘My Sweet Love’ embraces the sweet fleeting moments of parenthood with Tierney’s young son.

A true songwriter and poet, Tierney brings an old school approach with modern tales of love, loss, hope and social justice. ‘My Sweet Love’ came at a time of uncertainty for Tierney, a transformational time during which he sought solace in song.
“I wrote the beginnings of the song when my partner and I found out we were having our first child. We’d just gotten back from an overseas trip, we were a bit lost, out of money and unsure of what we were going to do and where we would live. I wrote the song as, kind of a letter to my partner just to tell her everything was going to work out. When It came time to record the song, it just flowed together really seamlessly in the studio. I wanted the feel and vibe to remind me of my partner and son. Happy, dreamy and full of sunshine. That was also a big part of the video clip, showing the feel and story behind the song and what we’ve built for ourselves over the past few years. It’s definitely one of my favourite songs on the album.” Pat Tierney

Recorded high on a mountain top amongst the beautiful hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, the new album dives deeply into the earthy folk tones of Bob Dylan and Neil Young whilst shining a brighter light on Tierney’s signature slide guitar sound and unique voice. Produced by roots music maestro Pauli B, the album was recorded over the past 18 months at Yama-Nui Studio and will be the follow up to Tierney’s 2015 debut album, ‘Wild World Blues’. ‘My Sweet Love’ follows a big 12 months for Tierney, who recently embarked on his debut shows in the United States, supported the likes of Aussie rock legend Russell Morris, roots-reggae lords, The Beautiful Girls, and released the first two singles from the upcoming album to great success with features on Double J, Triple J and the 2019 Surfline film ‘The Art Of Scoring’.
