Australia’s international folk troubadour Steve Smyth releases his hauntingly beautiful, brass led, second single ‘Yours Sincerely’ today, from his forthcoming EP, Blood.

An ode to writing and receiving handwritten letters, where personally crafted correspondence was saturated in excitement and promise. ‘Your Sincerely’ speaks to an era where communication held meaning longer than 140 characters and drove sincere human connection.

“Letters from family and lovers grip the hand of those in need of comfort and courage, as handwritten lines transform into the warmth of a mother’s embrace or the devotion in a lover’s longing,” said Steve

“’Yours Sincerely’, is a love letter to how communication used to feel, and though written and recorded before our current global calamity, its tone is fatefully poignant.

“Against the current backdrop of global isolation, personal connectivity is our new struggle and battlefield and I want to evoke questions of how we connect and examining the division our modern methods of communication create.”

Musically, ‘Yours Sincerely’ is an eloquently unassuming union of acoustic guitar against a warm backdrop of brass and strings, unifying the robustly bare beauty of Smyth’s lyricism, which contests equal parts of poise and anguish.

Following the delay of Smyth’s 2020 Australian Tour and EP Release, he is happy to announce that Blood, the first in his four EP catalogue set to be released across the coming 12 months, will be released on May 15.

Blood, the first and most intimate EP in the collection, holds to Smyth’s honest deliverance live and in script, blending a variety of influences into his earthy, soulful sound. Entering through the door of the cathedral where it was recorded in live takes in his local neighbourhood in Barcelona, an age-old story is sung that all have felt in its tune.
