Drawing thousands of guitar lovers and enthusiasts to the 2018 Melbourne Guitar Show, #MGS2019 is growing year on year and is gearing up for the biggest event yet. Champion of the Australian music products industry.

What was the first guitar you ever owned?

The first significant guitar I owned was an Ibanez RG750 which my dad bought for me when I was about 18. I would go in to the music shop and play it often before I got it. It had an ebony fretboard, an edge tremolo system and it was jet black.

What was the first song you ever learned to play?

My early guitar pieces were the ones my dad taught me, Spanish Ballad and Kingston Town, also a few Beatles tunes.

If you could add any guitar to your collection what would it be and why?

A 1972 Ignatio Fleta classical hand made guitar. They are quite rare now and usually sell for $50K US plus. They have such an authentic Spanish sound, lyrical sweet trebles and punchy basses.

Who do you think are the top three male guitarists in the world?

Tomatito, Tommy Emmanuel and Yamandu Costa

Who are the Top Three female guitarists?

Meng Su, Karin Schaupp and Anna Vidovic

If you could design your own custom guitar what features would it have?

A state of the art wireless pick up and mic system that captures the nylon sound with real fidelity.

Amazing projection and sound while maintaining a quality tone.

If you could play a gig alongside any guitarist (alive or dead) who would it be?

John Williams or Paco De Lucia

Five musicians you’d invite to dinner and why?

I’ll stick with guitarists…

John Scofield – to pick his brain about jazz guitar scales

Andres Segovia – Incredible personality of the guitar world.

Manuel Barrueco – a legendary player and I know he has a great wine collection!

Alirio Diaz – I actually have dined with this guitar master, he had many great stories… and a gentleman.
