GRACE AMOS announces EVERLONG cover to land on DSPs ahead of  Foo Fighters show in Geelong

Upcoming singer-songwriter Grace Amos has today announced a beautiful, delicate cover of the Foo Fighters’ classic Everlong, tapping into the intimate beauty of the original in a completely unique way, out now. The release was a work of serendipity, as Foo Fighters have just announced their surprise one-off stadium show in Geelong on Friday March 4, 2022. Earlier this month, Grace revealed a raw, behind-the-scenes video to accompany the cover, showcasing the track’s creation in the studio.  Grace’s take on Everlong follows the release of her latest original single, the vulnerable DECIDE, a stunning interrogation of the self as the singer grapples with developing feelings for another woman.

It takes serious musicianship to cover one of the worlds’ most beloved songs and add something totally fresh – and that’s exactly what Grace has done with Everlong. Her deep, soft vocal melts across a shimmering piano bed, allowing the listener to sink into the poignant, evocative lyricism; it’s the kind of track you’d put on to slow dance to with your forever love, or at the end of a long, rainy night, curled up on the couch with a book and a tea. Accompanist Bill Risby created that sublime piano arrangement, and keyboardist Adam Sofo built the lush, abundant orchestral landscape to wrap around Grace’s beautiful vocal.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the cover, Grace says, Something about Everlong has always caught my eye.  It’s so beautiful, and so well known that I was confused as to why I couldn’t find a cover of it that really showcases the lyrics. I feel that I’ve really achieved this, particularly with the mix of piano and strings in the instrumental.”

The fearless young performer, who takes inspiration from the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Phoebe Bridgers and Olivia Rodrigo, is prolific beyond her years, and her latest single DECIDE is just a taste of her impressive songwriting abilities. She’s set to perform at Valleyways Festival in September alongside triple j faves Skeggs and The Rubens – the first of what is sure to be a plethora of festival slots as Grace continues to share her considered, intelligent indie-pop songs with the world.

With Foo Fighters headlining at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong on Friday, the timing of Grace’s Everlong cover couldn’t be better.  Grace felt it was the perfect time to release her version of this classic song to welcome Dave and the band back to Australia and to share this track with the world at a time when music can bring us all a few precious moments of peace.
