Australian heavy act IN HEARTS WAKE are stoked to today reveal their cover of ‘all the good girls go to hell’ by Billie Eilish for triple j’s Like A Version, joined by Marie ‘Maz’ Devita of WAAX. The Like A Version coincides with the band’s massive regional Australian tour, which kicked off last night in Bunbury WA and continues tonight with a sold out show in Perth, as well as the news that their feature length documentary GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK will be available to stream in Australia and New Zealand on iTunes and DocPlay from 20 October 2022!

Renowned for their fierce commitment to the environment, In Hearts Wake chose to turn this dark pop song into a heavy anthem, citing Billie Eilish as a great example of an artist that is not afraid to talk about the climate crisis. “We chose to cover ‘all the good girls go to hell’ as we appreciate the way that the song cleverly addresses climate change from the perspective of the devil and god.” Said In Hearts Wake vocalist, Jake Taylor. “We connected to the message of the song – humanity exacerbating global warming whilst expecting some sort of divine intervention to save us. Nothing is coming to help, only we can save ourselves.” The Like A Version comes as In Hearts Wake reveal that their documentary GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK will be available for streaming in Australia and New Zealand from 20 October via iTunes and DocPlay, and is available for pre-order now. Conceived during the catastrophic bush fires of early 2020, filmed during the global pandemic and premiered as unprecedented floods devastated the East coast of Australia, GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK holds a mirror up to the music industry and its relationship to the environment. While the film chronicles the making of In Hearts Wake’s 100% carbon offset 2020 album Kaliyuga and their journey to become a certified Carbon Neutral Organisation, it’s more than a film about one band and one album. As In Hearts Wake examine their processes and search for more environmentally sustainable options, inspiring new possibilities for an entire industry begin to emerge. Through conversations with creatives, experts and professionals, In Hearts Wake uncover unsettling truths, face human adversity and discover inspiring solutions for a new earth-aligned way forward. GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK was screened across Australia and internationally throughout April 2022. It has been selected by six film festivals so far, including Portland Film Festival (USA), Pacific Northwest Festival (CA), British Columbia Environmental Film Festival (CA), Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, Byron International Film Festival and Bangalow Film Festival. The documentary was also featured in the Forum at Splendour in the Grass 2022 and will be shown at Australia’s leading music industry festival and conference, Big Sound in September. Finally, it will be available at home come 20 October 2022. Pre-order it now on iTunes. In Hearts Wake are currently on a huge 27-date tour of the country in celebration of the documentary, joined by special guests RedHook, Pridelands and Banks Arcade. GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK TOUR will see the outfit perform brand new songs written and produced especially for the film, along with fan favourites from the band’s impressive five album discography. The highly anticipated shows mark In Hearts Wake’s first Australian tour in four years, with their shows in Perth and Adelaide already sold out. In true In Hearts Wake style, the band will offset 150% of the carbon emissions created from their touring operations, carefully calculating all emissions produced to cater for their transport, energy and consumption over the run of shows. Fans can get tickets now at inheartswake.com.
