Jack Runaway ‘Ready To Know You’ single out now;
set for launch show March 2
Following on from his 2015 eponymous debut, Jack Runaway returns in 2019 with a new EP, led by the magnetic first single Ready To Know You. Picking up where he left off, the new EP harnesses his band’s ability to create distinctive music using an abundance of styles – a songwriting approach perfectly described by triple j’s Steph Hughes as a “beautiful mix of so many influences that morphs into its own thing altogether.”
Fuelled by a sense of nostalgia, Jack Runaway envelopes familiar themes in a swirl of melodies and tones that cut across genres. Based in Western Australia’s Golden Bay, the band feature the southern-tinged vocals of singer/guitarist Christopher Hoskin and the perfect bar room grooves of drummer Kris Savy, while the bass and keys come courtesy of talented multi-instrumentalist studio pal Vaughan Wade. Formed by Hoskin as an outlet for his songwriting, Jack Runaway has evolved into a powerful live unit; whether appearing in solo, duo or trio mode there’s an undeniable dynamic.
Funnelling life experience into every song, Jack Runaway is a place of raw emotion that taps into childhood memories, current day happenings, and everything in between. Written on a plane as a distraction from a fear of flying, Ready To Know You is the perfect case in point; a heartfelt reflection on a breakup, delivered in a burst of jangling guitars and sing-along vocals. Recorded by Lance Robinson at Pavement Studios, the new EP is everything fans of the band have been waiting for, and the perfect introduction for everyone else.
