Writing, recording and releasing a song about family is a dream come true for 16 year old Jaylee Daniels. The songwriter from Whyalla in South Australia wrote “PAPA’S SONG” as a tribute to her grandfather, a toe-tapping tune with a heartfelt message.

Jaylee was named Junior Winner of the Whyalla Recording Scholarship in late 2018, and thanks to full sponsorship by award-winning studio Stormfront Productions released her original song “PAPA’S SONG” in February this year hitting number 7 on the Australian iTunes Country chart.

The single is a story about the importance of spending time with the ones you love and keeping family traditions alive.
Now as part of her WRS prize Jaylee has released the official music video for “PAPA’S SONG” showcasing the gorgeous unique scenery of the South Australian outback.

“My papa Rusty was always the life of the party when he played the bones and spoons. He just loved traditional Country Music – especially Slim Dusty – so when he sadly passed away I wanted to honour his memory”.

“Recording “Papa’s Song” has been a huge learning curve for me. Winning the Whyalla Recording Scholarship not only allowed me to record and release my own song to the world, but to learn so much about what happens behind the scenes in the music industry. Now I can proudly say I am a recording artist with my very own Music Video. I am sure Rusty would be proud – and a little bit excited by all the attention”.
A “who’s who” of musicians feature on “Papa’s Song” including Ricky Mier on banjo, Bobby Bowlin on fiddle and Jim Riley from platinum selling group Rascal Flatts on drums. Mastering in New York was completed by Grammy Award winner Randy Merrill who has worked with Adele, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.
Traditional Country Music is in safe hands with artists like Jaylee taking over the reins. With as successful a debut as “Papa’s Song” on her resume, Jaylee is destined for big things into the future.
