“Since 1992 WOMADelaide has taken audiences on a journey of discovery, celebrating music, arts and dance from around the world. The Australian artists performing with us next year continue this tradition, demonstrating the extraordinary creative and cultural diversity that lies within our own borders. Botanic Park will be filled with the sounds of South America, the Seychelles, Iran, PNG, West Papua and Africa; folk, blues, Klezmer, DJs and so much more” said WOMADelaide Director, Ian Scobie.
Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, congratulated WOMADelaide on delivering such an outstanding and innovative festival to Australian audiences for three decades.
“I’m pleased that with $2 million in support through the Federal Government’s Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund in support of WOMADelaide this year and the 30th anniversary edition next March, WOMADelaide will be back in 2022 doing what they do best – presenting Australia’s most talented artists to thrilled audiences.”
Premier of South Australia Steven Marshall said it was terrific to see so many big names on the line-up for South Australia’s much-loved WOMADelaide festival.
“WOMADelaide is an iconic event that all South Australians are proud of and is a highlight of our state’s March festival season. This line-up and the festival’s return to Adelaide’s Botanic Park is going to draw visitors from across the state and the country, who are keen to celebrate the festival’s 30th birthday.
