Zak Fleisher is a solo act hailing from the streets of Melbourne who by day quietly plugs away at his corporate existence, and in his spare time makes music.

Having been inspired by the collective crisis that the world is now involved in, Zak took pen to paper to create his latest dual single release with the tracks ‘ Get Away’ and ‘ Turntable’.

Opening track ‘ Get Away’ delights the ears with a folky guitar into that glides though the number quite pleasantly. Its inviting the listener to look toward brighter days and getting away. It’s a simple isolation anthem that speaks of the times and the difficulties we face. Zak’s vocals ring out in a Bob Dylan-esque style singing the feelings that we all are experiencing. It perfectly articulates all of this into the song.

‘Turntable’  was written in his living room, is a track that gently reminds us all that music will be with you through the good and bad times in your life, that love is indeed expressed with sound. Reminiscent of Mac DeMarco with strong vocals the track is both lamenting and reflective.

What Zak has done with these two releases is take a snap shot of the times, create a sonic time capsule of 2020 and turn it into a reminder of how to best deal with the current times. When we revisit the year and look back the music created will be a testament to what people went through and Zak has added his art to the tapestry of the times, woven intricately with his guitar and vocals.

Whilst Zak might be writing tracks in his living room in isolation what he has achieved is a romantic view of what others might think is a bleak situation. He has captured the negatives and turned them into positive reminders that things will be alright. Zak reminds us to dream of better times, to focus on the things that matter and that is to create, feel and be inspired by music.

Get Away/ Turntable  are available on al streaming services.
