Few stories to tell, had a few tears to cry but I got there and it’s about to come your way”.

News: MUNCIE GIRLS RELEASE NEW ALBUM, FIXED IDEALS OUT TODAY WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR CLINIC

Muncie Girls’ second album Fixed Ideals is out today and the latest single to be revealed is the anxiety-fuelled, Clinic. Vocalist and guitarist Lande Hekt wrote it when she first starting having CBT for her anxiety. “It was a really fucking horrible time but I’m glad I wrote it down,” she explains. “This song is half about how important it is to get your mental health checked and ring the DAS, but it’s also about how long it all takes and how unbelievably underfunded it is. I have a lucky time with my mental health compared to so many people, and I have to think about how incredibly hard it is for so many people.”

The music video for Clinic is based on Landis’ Facial Expressions Experiment, conducted almost 100 years ago. This experiment was conducted by Dr. Landis with a goal of discovering if all people had a common facial expression while feeling specific emotions in reaction to various objects and scenarios. Of course, they do not.

News: Bloodbath – Reveal Their New Studio Album The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn

Like all gore-drenched sequels, demonic death metal supergroup, Bloodbath’s fifth slice of morbid savagery comes even darker, nastier and sicker than before. It’s been four years since Grand Morbid Funeral, and Stockholm’s shadiest death cult – with members drawn from metal luminaries Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Opeth and Craft- return with a new slab of old-school, HM-2 driven blackness:

The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn

Recorded by Bloodbath and Karl Daniel Liden, at Ghost Ward, City Of Glass & Tri-Lamb Studios, during the first half of this foul year of our Lord, the album is the second with Old Nick on vocals. If Grand Morbid Funeral was a thick spray of deathly noise, on The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn, it is the rotten, fetid state of the world and our inevitable doom that is casting a looming shadow over proceedings.

With world leaders threatening nuclear annihilation in 140 characters over social media, capitalism tearing itself apart, a wilful march into a surveillance state via handy pocket spying devices, a shifting climate that appears to literally be trying to kill us… It’s all fuelled Bloodbath’s newest ode to filth.

What are we presenting with this album? Humanity’s unfaltering march prone towards downfall,” declares guitarist Blakkheim. “The threat to this world isn’t from far beyond the sun, the enemy is right here, within the walls. Only the god of emptiness will survive us all. The arrow of Satan is drawn!

Right from the opening notes of the scything “Fleischmann”, this sense of impending horror is carved into the music.

The brutal “Wayward Samaritan” is anything but merciful, while “Deader” is a truly morbid workout, and “Morbid Antichrist” summons the spirits of those two classic death metal outfits perfectly. By the time things reach an atomic conclusion on the evil rock’n’roll of “Chainsaw Lullaby”, you’ll have been sucked into Bloodbath’s unholy world forever.

There’s an extra nasty layer on The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn. This time, among the usual chainsaw riffs and blasts, the darkness of Blakkheim’s words is also reflected in the addition of new guitarist Joakim Karlsson of Swedish black metal plague Craft.

It’s a step forward that’s only given the band’s already fearsome fangs extra rabid bite.

He’s not the only extra face getting covered in gore. “Bloodicide” – quite literally meaning ‘The Killing Of Blood’ – features a full house of British death metal guest stars, with Carcass’ Jeff Walker, Bolt Thrower/Memoriam singer Karl Willetts and Cancer’s John Walker all lending their larynxes to the madness.

“It wasn’t deliberately planned to be just british guests, but as it randomly turned out that way, it became a really cool feat!” laughs Blakkheim. “Nick [Holmes], Jeff, Karl and John are all legends respectively within the UK death metal scene and we’re proud to bring them all together on our little old school soiree to tribute the days of old.”

There’s no mitigating circumstances coming your way any time soon… The world is a mad place full of darkness, horror, disease and terror! Hell on Earth is real and not just limited to fiction. The dark ages transcend all frontiers, ever present but yet unseen.”

News: PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS continue to dominate with UK radio success, Wildlife Entertainment signing, UK + European + Australian tours and new single, ‘SOCIAL CANDY’!

PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS continue to dominate with UK radio success, Wildlife Entertainment signing, UK + European + Australian tours and new single, ‘SOCIAL CANDY’!

To say the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are having a nice run of late would be a massive understatement. The Perth rockers have continued to go from strength to strength, landing successfully on the radar of international music media“Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are here to blow your mind.” Clash Magazine, as well as triumphing at home in Australia off the back of the releases of High Visceral Part 1, Part 2 and B-sides. Lucrative slots supporting Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves this year brought the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets to more newcomers off the back of a completely sold out headline tour, continuing to spur on the positive momentum surrounding their eclectic style.

Hailed by DIY Mag as ‘Australia’s next great psych band’, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets aren’t showing any signs of slowing down either, revelling in their recent signing to UK management label Wildlife Entertainment, home to acts including the Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood and The Last Shadow Puppets. Another sign of the size of waves the band is making in the UK and through Europe, their tour in the region is selling like hotcakes, with an extra show being announced to meet demand in London, while dates in Manchester and Amsterdam have already SOLD OUT. The musical taste the band has been leaving with UK radio is one that has seen Radio X select ‘Cornflake’ as their ‘Big One’ Exposure Record, while BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music have also featured the track on air. The love is strong for the Perth group and well mirrored in the ferocity of their fans’ loyalty.

For a band out of Australia’s West Coast to be levelling up to the high standard set – in the eyes of international crowds and critics – by the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Tame Impala, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have proven their stripes as a frenetic live act, as well as an incredible unit on record.

New single ‘SOCIAL CANDY’ is just the latest example of the band’s fiery approach to their craft. Bombastic from the jump, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ latest release teems with vibrancy and melody; guitars swirl with heavy percussion and hypnotic vocals, making this tune a surefire favourite with fans who have rocked with the band from Day One, as well as being an enticing number for those just switching on. “Lyrically inspired by being absolutely smeagaled, musically reminiscent of the times where you’re battling between McDonalds or forking out for an Indian. A mix of up and down, left or right, Star Wars or that rom-com your girlfriend promised you’d life. Decision upon bad decision. Nights out or The Knights Inn. Whatever you pick really doesn’t matter ‘cause you exist at the same time as every other weird Ghandi who thinks time and space is their own substance. Pick the feeling that makes you say ‘Gromit’ and Wallace yourself into oblivion.”  Jack McEwan, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

“Hailing from Perth, the four piece are big on psychedelic head-bangers and their latest release ‘Cornflake’ alternates wall-shaking percussion with fuzzed out guitar solos and hypnotically hazy vocals.”

Wonderland Magazine

“It’s a crazy world we live in, and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets aren’t about to try and make sense of that to feed your earthly expectations. Psych.”

Gigwise

“The biggest Zeppelin style riff collides with a dreamy Tame Impala meets Jesus and The Mary Chain’s psychedelic dream to produce a two-speed pantechnicon that grabs you by the throat from the first note, throttles you wildly before dropping you, gasping and searching for more.”
Louder Than War

Fans in Australia needn’t think the Porn Crumpets have forgotten about the work they’ve put in at home; the release of ‘Social Candy’ marks the beginning of a brand new chapter for the band, one the fans are encouraged to jump onboard for. Heading out on the road through October, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets will be hitting venues right around the country with a show set to impress.

27 Listicle Series: Kav Temperley

Favourite bands from the 90s by Kav Temperley

When I was about 16, the album Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins came out, and it turned out to be a real game changer for me, it taught me that you can be indie but still write huge catchy songs.

Pixies are one of my all-time favourite bands – they only just scrape in to the 90’s category, but they are important. They really helped invent that quiet loud thing that Nirvana grabbed and ran with but the vocals and song writing of Frank Black is a huge influence.

Nirvana were definitely a moment in time me that helped form who I am as a musician, I still remember hearing and seeing the video for Smells Like Teen Spirit for the first time – after that, nothing was the same. Kurt Cobain, like Bob Dylan, showed us that anyone could pick up a guitar and write a song.

I think every dude has been through a metal phase in their life, and for me the band that stuck with me the most was Kyuss and especially their sophomore record Blues For The Red Sun. Sonically they were amazing, but I also love how the albums sounded like one big song, with all the tracks running to each other… the idea from the band was to listen to it as a whole.

Jeff Buckley was really important to me, I was lucky enough to see him play live twice on his album tour in Australia. I think out of all the bands I’ve mentioned so far this is the only album that I’m currently still going back to.
