Victorian country West-siders turned suburban dwellers The Attics have been crafting their own brand of melt-in-your-mouth psych-pop since gracing the local scene with breakthrough singles ‘Not Like’ and ‘Bluffing’ back in 2016. Now with a debut album under their belt, the outfit are excited to reveal their latest woozy jangle with the hypnotic ‘Ultramarine’. Ahead of their upcoming single launch, the band have gifted fans with a montage-like clip for the track, as premiered on Pilerats, with the video revisiting the past year of writing, recording and touring comradery in a nostalgic video diary of sorts.

Entirely self-made and full of hand-held wobble, distorted light, fuzzy faces and epic scenery, the humble yet impressive video takes to the streets, the venues, and the studio in a behind-the-scene’s glimpse of a touring muso’s life. A fun-fuelled clip made as much for themselves as it is for fans, the video for ‘Ultramarine’ is the perfect visual accompaniment to The Attics’ warped, DIY channelling sound.

Throughout their prolific formative years, The Attics have shared stages with a generous spread of local Australian talent, opening for the likes of Ali Barter, Harts, Abbe May, The Pretty Littles, The Magic Bones and most recently Slum Sociable. With lead singer Cameron Wadethe brain behind boutique music festival By The Meadow, the outfit naturally appeared on its inaugural line-up and have since graced the international festival circuit at last year’s Indie Week Toronto. Along with bandmates Steven Mccoombe, Peter Angliss and brother Ben, the four-piece are a captivating live act that brings pulsating percussion, dreamy guitar hooks and a peppering of electronic elements to the fore with every performance.

The compelling force is thrilled to be joined by local legends Go Get Mum and Hobsons Bay Coast Guard when they launch ‘Ultramarine’ this week at The Grace Darling in Melbourne.

Sydney’s own collaboration from the stars, Carmada – aka Drew Carmody (L D R U) and Max Armata (Yahtzel) today add to their catalogue of staggering successes a remix package to their latest dance release “Ready For It” feat. tribes, ahead of their hugely anticipated national club tour – Club Carmada. The artists on the four-track collection each take control of the united duo’s colossal offering to salute its glorious foundations along with a taste of their own personal signature.

Hailing from Coventry, England arrives garage electronic expert Holy Goof to kick off the adrenaline spiked lineup. Opening with a heart-pounding pace, the producer lightly plays with a skipping beat beneath the track, before exploding into a hard-hitting house sequence, and signing off with a personal touch of bass-driven exuberance. Stepping in is Czech Republic Rido, whose blissful mix soon drops into an alluring exhibition of complex house sounds interjected by chill out moments for a catch of breath.

As premiered via Life Without Andy, Canberra native blanke follows by spinning an ear-catching staggered beat before taking control of offerings from the track with jaw-dropping force and stomping basslines. Curating a fitting finish to the formidable lineup is Seattle-based dubstep king MUST DIE!, dropping an explosive mix bursting with classic heart-pounding bass. A haunting opening to the remix soon dives into outrageous territory complete with the producer’s signature low end sounds to wrap the energetic collection.

The remix EP celebrates Carmada’s triumphant original track “Ready For It” feat. tribes., a four minute release perfectly marrying the enchanting vocal prowess of tribes., with Carmody and Armata’s signature twisting bass hits and fiery production. The undeniable dance hit now boasts over one million streams following a triple j Good Nights premiere.

The remix package arrives amid raving responses to the debut of the duo’s new live show, Carmada by LDRU and Yahtzel at Splendour in the Grass last month. With acclaimed musical director Joel Farlandat the helm, festival-goers were treated to a whirlwind lineup showcasing the best of the artists’ three products over an hour and forty-five minutes. The monumental performance featured the Australian debut of Yahtzel’s own live show recently toured across the US with ODESZA, before LDRU fired into a slew of infectious new music with guest vocalists including G Flip, Kira Puru and Xavier Dunn. The boys emerged together as Carmada setting fire to the stage with a brand new live show, band and integrated productions their fans love best, capped off with more guest appearances from the likes of Boi andMammals.

Next month, Drew and Max will head out on the road, kicking off their Club Carmada tour in the nation’s capital on September 14 with a performance at Canberra’s Mr Wolf, before journeying west toPerth’s The Court on September 15 and back again to Brisbane’s The Met on September 21. A return to Byron Bay for a night at the Brewery on September 22 will precede a trip to Darwin’s One Tropical Day on September 29, before the boys pull off same day performances at Sydney’s iconic Ivy Courtyard and the south coast’s Moruya Hotel on September 30. 

Reaching the halfway point of the tour, Carmada will move on to The Goods Shed in Hobart on October 6, before lighting up stages at the Sunshine Coast’s The Helm on October 11, Coffs Hotel in Coffs Harbour on October 12 and Proud Mary’s at the Central Coast on October 13. The boys will then head to Newcastle destination The Cambridge Hotel on October 14, before what is sure to be a fiery show in Armata’s hometown Wollongong at UOW Garden on October 18, a dance frenzy at Mackay’s Cartelon October 19, and a final set from Adelaide’s Fat Controller on October 20.

With a brand new selection of explosive remixes for one of their loudest tracks to date, alongside the sonic powerhouse project returning in DJ form this spring, Carmada remain a force to be reckoned with in Australia’s forward-thinking dance scene in 2018.

Press Club are taking off in the big Tarago of the sky on what will be their second Australian headline tour for 2018. November will see Press Club revisit towns that have shown them support on previous jaunts as well as call on a few less frequently played locations.

The band who have already flourished in the proving ground that is the Australian live-music scene, this morning took on triple j’s Like A Version to ovation and are excited to be taking their reputably raucous show to their already incredibly loyal fans around Australia.

Zimbabwean born, Melbourne based soul singer Thando returns with new single ‘Happy’, a track which hypnotises and constricts as effortlessly as a cobra seducing its prey.

With sleek production care of Tentendo, Thando’s new single ‘Happy’, sees the songstress adeptly meld soul and hip-hop elements, smoothing the biting message of her new song with her quintessential, honied vocals. When the heady smoke clears, Thando’s ‘Happy’ message is clear: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

In her own words, Thando explains ‘Happy’ as “a letter to my conscious self from the perspective of my anxiety. From my perspective, my often forgotten villain sneaks up on me when I’m feeling my most content and consequentially risks relationships and opportunities for happiness. I personified and gave her a voice, so that I may attempt to better understand her and learn how to keep her at bay.”
2018 has seen Thando complete a metamorphosis. Kicking off the year by releasing a powerhouse collaboration with REMI, resulting in frank single ‘NUMB’. A track which saw her reflect on her own identity as a woman of colour in Australia and her feelings of ostracism by the current political climate. The single garnered big love from triple j, Double J, national community radio and saw her tour nationally.

She’s won fans nationwide through her mesmeric live performances. Securing coveted support slots with Leon Bridges on his Bluesfest sideshow, Sampa The Great, REMI and having wooed festival crowds at Strawberry Fields and her annual hometown, historically sold out Chapel off Chapel performances.

Ahead of her long-awaited Australian Tour beginning, Courtney Barnett today releases a series of 10 stunning live videos.

Shot in the scorching heat of the Southern American summer in conjunction with Apple Music, Barnett and her band (Bones Sloane, Katie Harkin and Dave Mudie) played through the entirety of their acclaimed album Tell Me How You Really Feel in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. Each song on the album gets the full cinematic treatment directed by rising US film-maker Claire-Marie Vogel (Julia Holter, Mutemath, Metallica, Margaret Glaspy) and mixed by Australia’s Cal Barter.

This is the first time these videos have been made available for wide-spread viewing.

Barnett and her band will begin their Australian tour today in Adelaide and tomorrow in Perth before a show at Brisbane’s Tivoli theatre, two shows at the Sydney Opera House and a massive home-coming show at Melbourne’s Festival Hall. The band recently completed multiple tours of the USA and Europe which included sold-out shows in iconic venues like Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and London’s Roundhouse, as well as career-defining sets at London’s All Points East Festival (with Nick Cave, St. Vincent and Patti Smith), Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival and Newport Folk Festival.

Earlier this week, she also shared a live version of album favourite ‘Charity’ and a cover of Elyse Weinberg’s ‘Houses’. Recorded during a Spotify Singles Session in NYC in May, the two tracks find Courtney in brilliant form; razor sharp and rocking out on the live studio recording of ‘Charity’, and poignant and sublime on ‘Houses’.

Norwegian artist AURORA is pleased to reveal her brand new single, ‘Forgotten Love’ – out now through Liberator Music/Glassnote Records. The new song is lifted from a larger body of work due later this year.

Commenting on the track, AURORA says, ‘Forgotten Love’ is a song I wrote about when we chose to fall in love with someone, a partner or even just the love you have for a friend, we know the risk it takes and how much it would hurt to lose this person, who we love so much.

After days of teasing, we have officially announced the first band appearing on the line up. We welcome Blackpool’s Boston Manor who will tour Australia for the first time.

Their second album, Welcome To The Neighbourhood, produced by Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday, Mayday Parade, Public Enemy), will be released on September 7 and is a soundtrack to disenfranchisement set in a fictionalised version of the band’s hometown. It inhabits an unapologetically bleak one, a world rife with poverty and drug addiction, boarded up shops and a population unable to escape a predicament they didn’t even know they were in.

New single, Bad Machine has been released with an accompanying video directed and edited by the band’s very own Henry Cox and Tom Hancox in the role of DOP. It’s a very “film noir” look at the their hometown of Blackpool which you can view below.

That’s not all, the entire Festival lineup will officially be announced on Thursday 23 August at 11am AEST time, so mark the date in your diary as you won’t want to miss out on what we have installed for you.

Before kicking off their Australian and New Zealand tour with Courtney Barnett this weekend, East Brunswick All Girls Choir have announced their Teddywaddy album tour this November. Following on from their 2014 Australian Music Prize-long listed Seven Drummers, Teddywaddy is the most profound and riotous statement of the band’s career, anchored at every turn by the ragged glory of Hobbs’ eruptive singing and the piercing details of his lyrics.

Alongside Marcus Hobbs who pens the songs is bassist/keyboardist Rie Nakayama, drummer Jen Sholakis and guitarist Rob Wrigley. Co-produced with Anna Laverty (Courtney Barnett, The Peep Tempel), the album is etched deeply with such contrasts. For every spacious swath of majesty like ‘Rounds’ or ‘Never/Never’, there’s some punked-up exorcism like the calm-to-squall ‘Dog FM’, the nerves-fraying ‘Cicada Chirps the Chicane’ or first single ‘Essendon 1986’, an old song revisited and accelerated.
