Scottish-born, Melbourne-based artist Quinny weaves warmth into wistful, driving indie folk via his brand new single Settlers out in the world. Previously renowned for his tongue-in-cheek Christmas sonic creations, as well as strangers frequently mistaking him for Ed Sheeran in public, Quinny’s brand new single showcases his absorbing creative flair.
We asked Quinny for Dream Rider:
- A fresh tin of Macgregor tartan paint – just to make me feel at home
- A hotel room with a rock solid mattress, black out blinds and late check out – you wouldn’t like me when I’m sleepy
- A box of peppermint tea – I don’t drink alcohol any more and try to avoid caffeine, so tea is the only other really social drink for adults left. And even then I only like the peppermint stuff cos it feels nice.
- Something healthy, but also chocolatey for breakfast – I’m not sure what, so you will just have to figure it out.
- If there’s budget I’d love pyrotechnics. My set probably doesn’t call for it, but the audience will love it.
- A new bike. Mine got stolen recently (classic Melbourne) and I’m refusing to buy another, so I expect the venue to cough up for this.
- Aisle or Window seat on the plane. Please do NOT put me in the middle – you wouldn’t like me when I’m middle.
- For the duration of my stay everyone has to pretend they understand my accent. I’ll repeat myself once, but after that it’s up to you. All impressions of my voice must be done exclusively behind my back.
- Anyone caught referring to Ed Sheeran in my presence must be publicly shamed. If he happens to be in the building at the same time, he needs to be asked “Oh wow, has anyone ever told you you look just like Quinny? You should cover some of his songs”
- A pack of Double Coat Tim Tams. Single Coats will not be tolerated.
