Situated across from the Queen Victoria Market is the Motley WhereHaus, and tonight on the stage in his quest for love is Giuseppe. A tall, handsome charming yet hapless man who has never known love. Beginning the show by handing out roses among the audience, Giuseppe is off to a great start.
Tonight, with a fair amount of audience help, Giuseppe will navigate his way through what it is to be in love. He asks the audience if they have been in love and what it feels like.
Giuseppe begs the audience to give him their expertise on everything from hugging to kissing and going on a date. Giuseppe tries to gather information on what he must do to succeed at love. A humble beach boy, he is naïve when it comes to matters of the heart. He is sweet, funny and loveable as he enlists various audience members to help him with his mission.
Giuseppe’s Love Quest is more than just a stand up comedy show and what Detto has created is hilarious. He’s charming, cheeky and loveable as he guides the audience through his quest.
However, it’s Detto’s gift for improv is where his genius lays, he’s quick with jokes, and he doesn’t falter. In fact some of the jokes are so quick it takes the audience a few seconds to catch up before he’s onto the next one. It’s sheer improv brilliance at its best and is a master class on comedy and character development.
Developing a character from scratch that the audience will not only fall in love with, but also cheer on is a stroke of genius and it makes for a brilliant one man show that is both funny and unique. It’s a triumph from start to finish, and a show that definitely can’t be missed. And even if Giuseppe hasn’t fallen in love, the audience has certainly fallen in love with him.
