Amaranthe
Northcote Theatre
Saturday 31 August
On the eve of the first day of Spring, Swedish metal band Amaranthe graced the stage at the Northcote Theatre for the first time.
Among a sea of black, the band theatrically arrived on stage to the sound of thunderous applause and anticipation that is almost palpable.
Amaranthe are a band like no other, and as they raced through the hits “Damnation Flame” “Boomerang” and fan favourite “ PvP” the crowd was delighted by each track, hands raised in celebration.
Hardly stopping to draw breath the trio consisting of unique vocal ensemble the electrifying Elize Ryd, Mikael Sehlin & Nils Molin entertain the crowd, each bringing their own captivating vocal experience to the performance.
Intertwined with the vocals were expert performances from the entire band, and its hard to pinpoint a favourite, the band performing as a solid unit, each in sync with the rest of the band to produce an unforgettable performance.
Amaranthe surely know how to put on a show, and Melbourne was treated to one of the best metal performances of the year. The Northcote Theatre walls practically shaking with each drum beat.
As the sea of black clad fans gathered after the show only one collective thought was present- let’s hope Amaranthe returns to Australia soon.
