We caught up with Minnie Marks to ask her about her Dream Guitar:
What are you currently working on, albums, tours, writing???
I’m just about to lay down an album which I’ve been sitting on for a few years. Then it’ll be time to pack the suitcase and tour these new songs around the globe.
What is your dream guitar, and do you already have the guitar, or is this truly a Dream Guitar?
I feel like I have one of my dream guitars already. My old ’56 Gibson ES-295 Goldtop.
Why this guitar?
The Goldtop was like the perfect in between of an old acoustic and a honking electric, with the old P90’s and the amount of air that gets pushed around and out of this thing, it’s truly such a joy to play and a great teacher.
What does this guitar pair well with?
A nice slapjack delay always sounds ripper, but also a nice Brown Face Harmonic Tremolo really lets this baby shine.
What genre does this guitar fit into?
It’s quite versatile, I’ve seen people play metal on this beauty, but I really love when it sings the slide blues.
Are there any of your idols that play this guitar?
A lot of monster guitar players have rocked this model. It’s a guitar that was made for the great Scotty Moore (Elvis’ Guitarist).
Particularly for me, I loved on my last US tour that mine made it into the hands of Nathaniel Murphy – He’s an absolute gun and pulled some wicked sounds out of it.
Anything else at Melbourne Guitar Show you’re excited to see?
Performers, luthiers, etc.? I’m excited to see as much of it as I possibly can to soak it all in! Lloyd Spiegel, Dallas Frasca, Kathleen Halloran and Jimi Hocking are always such a treat though!
