Sydney-based sad party punkers Clay J Gladstone share new single Three Cheers For Optimism from upcoming debut album ‘Is This How I Die?’ out Friday November 1 via Def Wolf Records. The lads get set to tour the album across the country late November on a tour supporting Sienna Skies.
Three Cheers For Optimism becomes the fifth single to tease the new album, joining Why Does Everybody Hate Me?, Postmodern Teenage Angst, Death By Idle Hands and Talk Of The Town on the ‘Is This How I Die?’ tracklist. Continuing a theme of manic yet vulnerable lyricism, Three Cheers For Optimism is the search for the silver lining, and clings to optimism by a thread. “This is one of my favourites on the album,” tells vocalist Tim Wisbey.
“It won’t be for everyone, it’s probably a little more of a kooky sound from what you would expect from us, but it just makes me feel something. Both Lyrically and with the aesthetic. It signifies an important part of the album, which you will get when you hear it! It’s about looking on the brightside, or at least telling yourself to despite having every reason not to as the world around you continues to crumble. This song just reminds me of Fight Club – and we actually reference that sentiment in the lyrics.”

Timmy
20 Cases of Toohey’s New: Timmy is the unofficial ambassador of the blue grenade
Somebody to wrestle: He is also obsessed with grappling. He will happily wrestle anyone willing regardless of age, gender, height or weight in the pursuit of scratching that itch
Matty
An empty pool to Skate in: The kid can skate and will not play a show if this is not provided. He needs to be comfortable, and this is not a negotiation
An additional pool to swim and drink beers in: He is also very extra, and requires extra if you want the show to go ahead
Cole
Box of Vegan Kit Kats: Cole is ripped, straight edge and Vegan. This is his little treat. The poor guy normally gives away his drink tickets
A Puppy: Cole just loves animals, works with them, and will probably birth one eventually when technology permits
Sammy
Steve Vai: Sammy is a ‘musical nerd’ stalker. And this request makes sense to anyone who knows guitars and amps.
All block reveal episodes on blu-ray DVD: Sammy is also a Millennial
Justin
Hand lotion: It’s not what you think, Justin is a drummer, and his hands are his treasures
Internet Access: Stop it with your sick mind! He needs the internet to listen to Chapelle Roan on repeat!
