Hitting the road in 2020 and rolling into Melbourne town for their world tour is the incomparable Scorpions.

On this wet summers evening, the eager crowd mill into Rod Laver Arena, in anticipation of a wonderful night of rock from one of the best in the business.

Starting off their  their Crazy World tour in Australia, tonight the kabuki curtain drops to reveal an energetic Scorpions tearing into the opener ‘Going Out With A Bang’ from their latest album ‘Return To Forever’.

It’s hard to imagine this is only their second tour to our shores, the first being in 2016 for their 50th Anniversary World Tour.

Guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Mattias Jabs are in fine form, playing with speed, volume and accuracy, prowling the stage, visibly happy to be performing in Melbourne tonight.

Moving through their 13 song set list, they were able to cover material from 6 of their 18 albums with lead singer Klaus Meine connecting with the audience from the very first note. Playing a medley of hits – ‘Top Of The Bill/Steamrock Fever/Speedy’s Coming/Catch Your Train and then breaking in down for a standout acoustic set of ‘Send Me An Angel’ and the uber hit ‘Wind Of Change’.

One definite highlight was the addition of Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee,  who performed a scorching drum solo, leaving all and sundry wanting more.

Overall an incredible night of rock hits by a legendary band , leaving all of whom were in earshot the definite winners.

Hopefully it won’t be long before we see this band back in our fine town real soon.
