Not backward about coming forward, Central Coast alternative/metal outfit Reliqa are today releasing their brand new single ‘Hangman’. A hard-out track that opens on a piano riff, then doesn’t mess around getting to the point, Reliqa are dropping this track as the second taste of their forthcoming EP ‘Eventide’. ‘Eventide’ will see its release on Friday November 9 in iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and all good online stores and streaming outlets. 

Reliqa’s new single, ‘Hangman’, is a foreboding caution, and an anthem of tragedy. It opens the door to a story that Reliqa are carefully crafting. ‘Hangman’ is available today in Spotify and can be streamed here. Their upcoming eight-track sophomore EP, ‘Eventide’, ushers in a number of experiments in style. The leading single ‘Earthbound’ was a solemn slow burn, not quite heavy, and not quite a ballad. This track as well as a number of others on ‘Eventide’ bridge gaps between heavy music and other genres, including hip hop, jazz, electronic, and orchestral. 

Reliqa is the four piece alternative metal band that has been on the Central Coast, NSW scene for a year now. Their debut EP ‘Afterlight’ was released at the beginning of 2018 and marked much of the building blocks of their style and sound – blending Monique Pym’s powerhouse vocals vocals with aggressive riffage. Reliqa’s drive and ambition has already seen them play alongside legends Far Away Stables, Liberties and Grim Indiana.

Frontier Touring are beyond excited to reveal that Aussie music icons John Butler Trio and Missy Higgins will be joining forces in January and February for the Coming Home Tour. The tour’s name reflects both the title of John’s imminent new album and the fact that it will finally reunite two artists whose early careers were closely intertwined.

Missy was supporting John at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion the night that her debut hit‘Scar’went to #1, and a few months later they were pivotal early drivers of the Wave Aid tsunami benefit show at the SCG. They won their first ARIA Awards as Best Male and Best Female artists in 2004 and 2005 respectively, and even shared their first Rolling Stone cover together. Since those days, John and Missy have become Australian musical icons, performing at numerous benefit gigs together and standing side-by-side in several environmental campaigns, but this will be their first national tour together in nearly 15 years.

John Butler Trio’s first album in four years, HOME, is out in just two weeks’ time (28 Sep through Jarrah Records), and will be brought to life across some of Australia’s most celebrated venues like the Sydney Opera House Forecourt and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

It will be coupled with the hits that have made him the highest-selling independent artist of all time, such as ‘Zebra’, ‘Better Than’, and ‘Ocean’. Fans will hear the head-turning first single from the record, also titled ‘Home’, as well as brand new single ‘Just Call’, released today with a stunning video that adds clarity to the puzzle revealed with HOME.
“‘Just Call’ is an earnest love song I’ve had for 13 years which I was finally able to finish in these sessions. This is the story of how I found my best friend and partner, out in a small town in the middle of nowhere, in a world of 7 billion people,” said John Butler.

The album takes listeners through an emotional sonic landscape, mirroring the frustrations, vulnerabilities, joys and tensions of modern life that have shaped the last four years for John Butler.

John Butler Trio has expanded to a five piece band for the duration of the Coming HomeTour, hence the name JBT+, taking the John Butler Trio live experience to a whole new level.

After the top 5 success of her recent album Solastalgia (out now through EMI) and the birth of a baby girl just last month, Missy Higgins will bring her stunning new material to the stage alongside her long time musical compadre John and his new five piece band. She’ll of course be bringing the classics too – the songs that have sold more than a million albums in Australia alone, earned her 23 ARIA Award nominations, and seen her support superstar Ed Sheeran on his recent stadium tour.
“It will be so good to get out of the house and get back on the road alongside John and his band”, said Missy. “I have great memories of all those gigs I did with him when I was first starting out and it will be great to play some really special venues together again after all these years.”
Rising star Stella Donnelly will join John Butler and Missy Higgins at all shows (except Margaret River and Albany). Seemingly coming out of nowhere with her powerful debut EPThrush Metal, she has instantly becoming one of Australia’s most talked about new acts. Her lo-fi folk-pop is laced with quick wit, savage social commentary and feminist defiance, with songs like  catapulting the singer onto stages across Australia and the world.

Baker Boy will also perform at the final show of the tour in Hobart. Pure Noise Record sand West Coast rock band The Story So Far are thrilled to announce the release of the band’s new album, Proper Dose out now. The album delivers a powerful,11-song statement of purpose. Proper Dose is the first studio album released by the band since May of 2015.

A lot can happen in three years, and for The Story So Far, a whole lot did. After the release of their third, self-titled album in 2015, the band’s routine writing, recording, and touring had caught up with them. “We were so burnt from touring, and playing the same songs over and over again,” says Parker Cannon, the band’s vocalist and lyricist, “We knew we had to take a step back and collect ourselves.” By taking that time to recharge, The Story So Far were able to look at themselves with fresh eyes and newfound creative ambitions, returning with their most cohesive and confident record to date.

Out now on Pure Noise Records / Sony Music Australia, Proper Dose shows just how much The Story So Far have grown as both people and musicians. They take bold creative leaps, finally making the record that they’d always wanted to. “This one, all the way through, I just think it’s leaps and bounds ahead of anything we’ve ever done,” says Cannon.
As is the case with every The Story So Far album, guitarist Kevin Geyer and drummer Ryan Torf shepherded the creative direction. “We didn’t really have a deadline,” says Geyer, “And the biggest enabler of us getting the record to where we wanted it was having time to work on it.” Over the course of a full year, Geyer and Torf shaped the songs that would become the backbone of Proper Dose, often starting them on instruments like the wurlitzer or synthesizer before bringing them to the rest of the band. 
Holing up with producer and engineer Sam Pura, The Story So Far spent just as much time reworking the songs on Proper Dose as they did writing them. “Since our last record, we’ve all collectively really gotten into The Beatles,” says Geyer. “It’s not like we’re trying to sound like The Beatles, but it just gives you a crash course in songwriting and how you can experiment but retain your identity.”Proper Dose makes full use of those influences, allowing the band to push themselves to into new spaces while bringing their fans up to speed on everything that’s happened in the past three years.

Cannon says the question the band kept asking themselves while making the album was, “How do we stay the same but get better?” The answer was found by never settling, opting instead to push the songs into spaces that felt exciting and new. “It was a challenging process,” says Torf, “But it was a very rewarding process.” The culmination of that effort can be heard in songs like “Take Me As You Please”and “Let It Go,” where The Story So Far builds orante pop songs that retain the energy and urgency of their early work.

Aided by the mixing of Eric Valentine, who has worked with bands like Third Eye Blind, Queens Of The Stone Age, and countless others, Proper Dose became a cohesive album by effectively uniting the band’s past with their present. Cannon’s voice remains anthemic, but his range has expanded along with the band’s sonic palette. Geyer and guitarist Will Levy compose parts that are nuanced and evocative, allowing the the rhythm section of Torf and bassist Kelen Capener to wander more than ever before. Using a diverse set of reference points, the songs explore new directions, be it the Oasis-indebted “Upside Down” or the electronic-flecked “Line.”

At its core, Proper Dose is about finding balance between the person you were and the person you wish to be, and it shows the band working to bridge that gap. It’s a brave record, the kind that sees The Story So Far showing their fans just how far they’ve come and inviting them to go on the journey with them.

The wait is finally over with the release of the much-anticipated third studio album, TIDES, from prolifically talented guitarist, composer and songwriter Darren Middleton.

To coincide with the release, Middleton has offered up a brand-new clip for track ‘After All‘.

The clip, which premiered on The Music, delves into the nostalgia of Middleton’s youth and explores the adolescent dream and infinite possibilities of who and what you will be when you grow up.

‘After All‘ features Darren like you’ve never seen him before – as a mime, flight attendant, artist, ninja and more.

Whichever way you prefer him, ‘After All‘ is a feel good, playful take on childhood wonder. Darren says of the clip, “This clip tells the story of some of the things I wanted to be when I grew up…The song is a celebration, a real up vibe, throw your arms in the air, dance in the rain kind of thing… and I wanted the clip to have that fun energy.“
 

Co-produced by Davey Lane (You Am I) and featuring lead singles ‘Just Let Me Go‘ and ‘Some People‘, TIDES takes Darren on a new direction, with a focus on making music to connect, to build and share bridges. Recorded straight to tape, in full takes, to capture evolution in the music, the error and the brilliance, finally bought together in the mix by inimitable producer Steve Schram (Paul Kelly, San Cisco, Cat Empire).

Featuring a star-studded line-up of talented Aussies, including Vika, Linda Bull and Kelly Lane on backing vocals, and Graeme Pogson (The Bamboos), Luke Hodgson (Meg Mac), Xani Kolac and Louis Macklin (JET) creating the rhythm of the album.

Harts is the nom de plume of Indian-born, Australian-based musician, singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music producer Darren Hart, whose singular blend of funk, jazz, blues, psychedelic rock, and indie electronic has drawn comparisons to Prince, Jimi Hendrix, and Lenny Kravitz, among others. Shake Ya Pants, the latest track from Harts is due to be released on the 21st of September.

To coincide with his upcoming releases Harts is touring Australia, as he takes his expanded live setup, Australia wide for the first time. His new shows will be a great opportunity to see him perform his new music, with a bigger, expanded live band. Its going to be an all new, intimate and experimental show.

Harts went independent for his 2014 long-player, Daydreamer, a ten-track collection of guitar-heavy electro-funk jams that drew praise from Prince Rogers Nelson himself, who noted that Hart’s full-length debut reminded him “of how I was at that age”. It was later revealed that Harts had traveled to Prince’s Paisley Park compound earlier in the year for a meet-and-greet/jam session.

2015 saw Harts release his second EP titled Breakthrough, which featured two Triple J #1 played songs When a Man’s A Fool and the title track Breakthrough. Harts was approached by Subaru for an experimental creative campaign in which the 2016 WRX model car was fitted with the guitarists Wah-Wah pedal as the accelerator. The campaign reached hundreds of thousands of people and helped cement Harts as Australia’s new guitar hero. 2015 also saw Harts play shows in both Hong Kong and Thailand.

Harts joined the ranks at Universal for his sophomore LP, 2016’s Smoke Fire Hope Desire, which was issued in the United States the following year via Razor & Tie. The album earned much praise and accolades including being awarded Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the GQ Australia Men Of The Year Awards, being invited to collaborate on a song with The Roots & Lenny Kravitz for the official 2016 Olympic Games Campaign and gaining major radio airplay including landing Triple J’s Album of the Week. 2016 saw Harts visit Europe and play shows in Amsterdam, Paris, London and Berlin as well as a festival slot at Pink Pop in the Netherlands.

Departing Australia to pursue career opportunities in the U.S for the majority of 2017, Harts reached a wider audience via American television when his song Power featured in the DC Comics NBC sitcom Powerless, and also landed a video premiere for the single Peculiar on Conan O’Brien’s digital channel Team Coco. Harts toured the U.S including shows in San Francisco, New York, and LA. He also performed at Chicago’s Wicker Park Festival and LouFest Music Festival in St Louis.

2018 has already seen Harts land huge features such as playing guitar with Joey Bada$$ for Triple J’s Like A Version and rocking 80,000 people at the MCG with Peking Duk for the NRL State of Origin pre-game entertainment. He also wrapped up two huge sets at Bluesfest and premiered a brand new expanded live band for a special sold-out show at Howler in Melbourne in July. Harts has recently released singles Ain’t Nothin’ On Me, 21&19 and Wishfulness all of which are set to feature on his upcoming album due later this year, along with Shake Ya Pants.

In unfortunate news, D.D Dumbo will not be appearing at Yours & Owls Festival due to personal reasons. Stepping in to fill the Sunday 4.30pm-5.15pm slot, will be the incredibly talented, Sarah Blasko.

GETTING THERE

The festival site is located at Stuart Park, North Wollongong, nestled between the escarpment and the beach. Parking around the festival site is limited to street parking and spots are tight! We encourage you to use public transport or if driving, carpool and use parking bays throughout Wollongong City. The Free Gong Shuttle and the festival shuttle bus will be on hand to get you between North Wollongong Station, the festival campground and Stuart Park.

BY TRAIN

The closest train station is North Wollongong.
The last train from North Wollongong to Sydney departs at 11.34pm
The last train from North Wollongong to Nowra departs at 1.08am

BY BUS

Festival Shuttle BusThe Festival Shuttle Bus will run between North Wollongong train station, the festival campsite (Dalton Park) and the festival site (Stuart Park). The shuttle bus will depart every 15 – 20minutes between 11am and 11pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Free Gong Shuttle
Take the Free Gong shuttle bus to stop 2500334 (Kembla St near Pleasant Ave): 
The Free Gong shuttle runs every 20 minutes between 08:00 – 18:00 on weekends. Timetables and route maps available here

CAMPING

The camp sites are located at Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort
Each camping ticket provides accommodation for one person on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Check in is open between 12pm and 11pm on Friday and from 8am on Saturday. You will need to bring your own tent, sleeping bag or doona, pillow and any other necessities. Camping spaces provide space for tents only. No vehicles, camper vans, or caravans will be allowed in the camping area.
Camping spaces are allocated upon arrival. If you want to camp with your friends, you will need to arrive together. Once unloaded you will be directed to park your car in the car parking area.
You will have access to amenities at the campground including hot showers & toilets.

If you’re a footy fanatic or just ready to enjoy some good old-fashioned shouting at a big screen, you’re in luck! The newest edition to this year’s festival is the Jeb Taylor Hotel, which will play host to the screening of both the AFL & NRL grand finals with lots of footy, commentary and classic hits spinning in to the night……..think your favourite watering hole minus your nana on the pokies!
