FRIDAY 5TH OCTOBER – Mammothfest have 3 venues open to you all. The main stage at the ARCH, the “Blackened” 2nd stage and the Hub for all things Rikstock, with another band still to be announced. SUNDAY is the most diverse. Not only is the awesome CYPECORE headlining, joining them as coheadliners are the legendary KING LEVIATHAN who will complete their last ever Brighton performance at Mammothfest before going on an indefinite hiatus, so this is going to be another magic moment for all. Mammothfest also have the national BEST BANDS FINAL where all the regional winners from around the UK & Ireland will compete against one another for a chance to be crowned MAMMOTHFEST BEST BAND 2018. Mammothfest are proud to confirm BAILER (Ireland) will be performing on Sunday, as a result of blowing everyone away at the Cork regional final recently. The whole room was electric so be ready for this high energy band to rip your head off!

Only forming in 2017 but already packing out venues across their hometown, Adelaidian larrikins (and five absolute best mates) Venice Queens have unleashed their laid back-yet-punchy debut self-titled EP, lead by new single “Bad Heart”, and will soon embark on their first headline shows outside of their beloved city of churches in August.

Venice Queens are supporting the release of “Bad Heart” and their debut EP with a run of interstate and Adelaide shows in August 2018

Venice Queens was conceived while two members were backpacking in India and formed in the ‘burbs of Adelaide by five best mates in September 2017, with the aim to create and perform music they love and further put their beloved hometown on the map for great homegrown music.

Recorded and mixed at Deep Blue Studios by Reid Jones in Adelaide and mastered by legendary engineer Steve Smart at Studio 301, Venice Queens’ latest single “Bad Heart” sees the group once again pivot their sound across the rock genre with snippets of surf and alt-rock with plenty of groove sandwiched between.

“The new track came out of a jam on one of those days where, ironically, nothing creatively seems to be gelling. We stripped the drum pattern back to basics and built the track up from a simple chord progression, and with the lyrics exploring the ups and downs of a toxic-yet-addictive relationship we think we’ve concocted an evil, but pretty cool track,” says the band.

The group say their debut EP is a package of songs that showcases the diversity of their sound and the individual influences that make Venice Queens’ hard to pigeonhole into one set rock genre.

“The EP came about pretty gradually – each song is a single in itself, so the actual process has taken us the best part of a year. The Strut is a gritty, grimy perspective on the Adelaide nightlife inspired by our old favourite haunt Supermild (may it RIP) and driven by Jay’s killer bass line.

“Tijuana is a summer anthem that came out of a single jam in our warehouse, with Sam’s lyrics referencing a busker he met in London, and Forget Your Mind is an upbeat track thematically about the serious issues of depression and anxiety – stemming from Anthony’s personal experiences.”

Over the next few months Venice Queens will hit the road for their first interstate shows for the ‘Bad Heart Tour’ before jumping back in the studio to work on their next singles and debut album.

NO MONO shift the soundscape on wildly bold new single ‘Fever Highs’. Having released their celebrated debut album Islands part 1 this past May and less than a year after the first introduction to No Mono, the team-up is back with a new song that continues to bring to life the ever-expanding sonic breadth of the project.

Tom Snowdon says of the track, “We wrote ‘Fever Highs’ when working on music for our debut offerings. It’s the other side of this project, a stark vibe with real gritty energy that is a big part of our live show and contrasts with the more introspective stories and atmospheres on Part 1 that are so intimate and sparse.”

The release of ‘Fever Highs’ follows their debut record Islands part 1 – angelic, irresistibly stunning, beautiful, remarkable, moving and gut-wrenching are all labels used to describe this nationally praised release. Shortly after, the pair welcomed in the album with their Sydney Opera House debut as part of this year’s VIVID LIVE programme, booked off the back of their debut sold out headline show at Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel. It comes ahead of the duo’s upcoming tour dates crossing the country from Brisbane to Adelaide, Perth to Melbourne, and ending where it all started in the Northern Territory with shows inDarwin and Alice Springs. Melbourne three-piece Loose Tooth release new single ‘You Say’ from their debut album Keep Up to be released on August 3rd via Milk! Records / Remote Control Records.

Loose Tooth are the latest exponents of Milk! Records – the label founded and run by Jen Cloher and Courtney Barnett. With Keep Up, the Melbourne three-piece have inked their impeccable ear for a hook on a fresh sonic palate; the howling guitars of their first EP Saturn Returns peeled back to foreground the striking to and fro of the band’s distinctive vocalists. That’s three for three – Etta Curry (drums, vocals), Luc Dawson (bass, vocals, guitar, keys), and Nellie Jackson (guitar, vocals) – long time friends with a democratic approach to both songwriting and influences. Raised on the holy trinity of soul, country and Eddy Current, their debut LP is a living reminder that the B-52’s used to be a punk band and the light hasn’t gone out on the storied shores of St Kilda.

The trio has also created a DIY lyric video to accompany the latest single. Guitarist, Nellie comments, “this was the first song that was written for Keep Up. An off-shoot from some of the heart break themes in Saturn Returns. Etta couldn’t help but pack one last punch to proverbial love rat that frequented our previous record!”

Recorded at Head Gap studios in Preston alongside Finn Keane, mixed by Anna Laverty and mastered by Mikey Young, Keep Up sees Loose Tooth open its doors to more textural hues without skimping on the pulp. Teaming garage rock thrills with sublime harmonies caught in the crossfire, Loose Tooth’s Keep Up is a self-assured addition to the Melbourne punk canon that could only result from the band’s unique chemistry; raw lived-in pop courtesy of countless nights shared at the precipice of a barstool.

The Lemon Twigs have announced details of their most ambitious project to date: their second album, Go To School to be released August 24. A musical conceived by brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario, the 15-track opus was written, recorded, produced and mixed by the pair at their home in Long Island.

Go To School tells the heartbreaking coming-of-age story of Shane, a pure of heart chimpanzee raised as a human boy as he comes to terms with the obstacles of life. Todd Rundgren and the D’Addario’s mother Susan Hall play Shane’s parents. The album features contributions from Jody Stephens (Big Star) and their father Ronnie D’Addario.

Today, The Lemon Twigs reveal ‘If You Give Enough,’ the soaring album closer. In lines like “Your life’s only good as love, if you give enough,” the moral of the fable is revealed: give a lot of love without expecting it in return and you won’t be corrupted by the hate around you.

Of the forthcoming album, Brian and Michael hint, “Something now, then, big, small, bleak, and hopeful. All in under an hour.”

The Lemon Twigs emerged in 2016 with their debut LP Do Hollywood, which was praised by Rolling Stone for “toting hooky songs that stand out for their intricate arrangements and delectable melodies” and NPR Music who mused, “Like listening to music from a time that never was…a baroque rock romp.” The band quickly earned fans in Elton John, Questlove, and Jack Antonoff among many others, the latter of whom said, “Prediction: The Lemon Twigs will usher in a new phase of rock.” This winter, The Lemon Twigs will join Arctic Monkeys on their UK and European tour as well as two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.

Sydney punk band THESE NEW SOUTH WHALES, today announce a run of East Coast dates across their No Bridge Left To Burn Tour. Following a run of sold out national dates with DZ Deathrays earlier in May, TNSW set off on their own headline tour stopping off in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this October for their last round of headline dates for 2018.

Joining These New South Whales on the tour will be the equally rousing distorted improvisations of Sydney’s Party Dozen alongside the impressively distinct industrial sounds of Brisbane-based Techno Producer Rebel Yell.

PETER SONIC DANCES ON DESERTED STREETS, AND PLUNGES INTO A FREEZING 2°C BLUE LAKE

There’s a certain image we think of when we think of romance, this song is not that.

Avant garde provocateur Peter Sonic gives you the evocative new film clip for latest single “mess around your room”.

Captured by both the debonair and handsome Jesse Leaman of Leaman Films – who scoured the countryside for a body of water for Sonic to dive into – and shockingly talented Nicolas Stevens of Jaen Collective, the clip was created between a freezing morning swimming around Victoria’s Blue Waters, and then over pizza, wine and paint with friends.

On that night, Sonic says “We all drank wine, she painted and then Claire painted our dinner. The still life photograph is the result of living a creative life – the process is equally enchanting”

“mess around your room” – produced by Dave Hammer (JEFFE, Nicole Millar, Gideon Benson) – remains with you long after your first, second or tenth listen. Dark and delightful, gothic, modern and brimming with optimism, it’s this lingering duality that spurred the film clip; futile in its nature, divine in its execution – embracing the exuberant spontaneity of art, life, and of course, dancing.

The surprisingly uplifting new single “mess around your room” is about being there when it is not convenient, for either party. It’s about sticking around through the mess.
