Virtual pop star’ Hatsune Miku announces debut Australian tour
Japanese sensation and virtual pop starHatsune Miku is set to make her Australian debut this year with the national Miku Expotour. The tour kicks off in Sydney and hits Melbourne and Brisbane before landing at Perth’s RAC Arena on Tuesday, November 26.
The cultural icon is known for her innovative holographic performances and wide variety of songs by various creators. Hatsune Miku has performed for crowds across the world, including notable stops at Coachella 2024 and a 17-city tour through North America.
Launched in 2007, the Hatsune Miku VOCALOID software enables users to create their own songs by inputting lyrics and melodies, with vocals provided by Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita. Over time, the software’s popularity surged, evolving into a global sensation, with the Hatsune Miku character becoming a beloved Japanese icon and cult favourite.
She will embark on a debut tour across New Zealand and Australia, kicking things off at Spark Arena in Auckland on Fri 15 November, before heading north for shows at Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre on Mon 18 November, ICC Sydney Theatre Wed 20 November, Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Fri 22 November and wrapping up at RAC Arena, Perth on Tue 26 November.
