My Dream Rider: Mama Kin Spender

Hi, Mama Kin here of Mama Kin Spender.  We are a garage/folk duo flung to either ends of this great red land.  We have a new album PROMISES coming out on August 15.  This album is a shotgun ride through the the glee, collapse and transformation of love.  It was carved from stories extracted from our own chests, and it now stands as our apology, our medicine and a manifesto.

My dream rider:

  1. A Masseuse with a massage table with a head hole that is super comfortable!
  2. Kinny and fresh lemon served on ice (Kinny is the Maltese version of Chinotto)
  3. A thermal hot spring for a post show soak
  4. A ping pong table to stir up my competitive spirit, and get me shit talking
  5. 10 different types of WHOLE hazelnut chocolate with AT LEAST a 40% hazelnut to chocolate ratio.
  6. Someone making me AMAZING margaritas/or medicinal hot toddies depending on my vibe
  7. Can the back room have a traveling machine so I can go straight from the gig back home and just walk in the door and be like “hey babes.. Just did a gig on the other side of the country.. Pop the kettle on, run the bath.. The night is YOUNG!”
  8. Maybe Adrienne from Yoga with Adrienne – I got really into it over COVID days and I think we would be great friends, she made me yoga and laugh at the same time and I do like the combo.  SO yeah a quick check in with Ads would be great before a show.
  9.  Horse so I can breathe in their smell and get nuzzled but also remember that I TOO AM CALM AND WILD AS I NEED TO BE!
  10. Wish I could take my dog to every gig so I could cuddle her before I play and that she would be there with her soft brown eyes ready to tail wag and love hard when I finish.  Maybe she could also help with merch. But also maybe great if the back stage was also a great doggo beach or a forest that her and the horse could frolic in while I am on stage.

Promises is OUT NOW

Live Review: The Dillinger Escape Plan

The Dillinger Escape Plan

Northcote Theatre

Northcote was a sea of black as fans of Dillinger Escape Plan descended on the theater to witness the band’s epic return to the stage.  Opening for the metal core band are H099o9, with an epic set, back flips and  stage jumping through a killer set.

The current lineup of original members Dimitri Minakakis (lead vocals) and Ben Weinman (lead guitar/keyboards/piano/backing vocals), alongside James Love (rhythm guitar), Liam Wilson (bass) and Billy Rymer (drums) open to Sugar Coated Sour, the show kicks off in rapid intensity.

Dimitri makes his way into the crowd during ‘ The Running Board’ and the crowd soak it up. A mosh pit opens and fans eagerly throw themselves around, bodies slamming together in time to the music. Guitarist Ben Weinman is electric as he jumps around the stage, he is captivating to watch. The band play solidly together, the performance mesmerizing.

After disbanding in 2018, The Dillinger Escape Plan reunited in 2024 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Calculating Infinity, performing three shows at Brooklyn Paramount Theater, New York, along with several European dates. Having them back to perform again in Australia is a delight for fans of the band.

As the band wrap things up with ‘ Come to Daddy’ and ‘ 43%’  fans gather around the stage to drink in the final moments of the show. Minakakis hangs around to greet fans, shaking hands and signing autographs, not wanting the night to end.

Pete Murray unveils dreamy new single ‘Amy’ and announces upcoming album ‘Longing’ out October 3, alongside album launch shows in October

Decades into his career but more compelling than ever, beloved Australian singer-songwriter Pete Murray arrives today armed with one of his most potent releases to date, releasing the blissfully hypnotic new single Amy, alongside the announcement of his eighth studio album Longing set for release on October 3. Nearing the end of his epic 56 date solo tour of Australia, Pete has announced three special album launch shows for New South Wales in October, tickets are available now from https://petemurray.com/.

Glistening with propulsive rhythms, sparkling acoustic guitar and Pete Murray’s ever-captivating vocal, the latest single Amy finds Pete Murray in new sonic terrain, embracing a shift in creative direction, while also coated in idyllic melodies and dreamy instrumentals. “Amy is about someone really special,” Pete reveals. I feel Amy has a different flavour to what I have recorded before. The backbeat rhythm on the acoustic guitar is what really makes it different. I also don’t use a 4 on the floor beat under any of my songs but this works with Amy. It’s kind of hypnotic with the acoustic, snare and beat working together and when the keys solo hits in the breakdown, it’s the best!”

Teaming up with Luke Palmer (Boo Seeka, Dead Letter Circus) to bring Amy to life, with Luke engineering the track as well as lending his skills playing keys and synth bass, Pete’s new sonic chapter begins today alongside his lush new single, with Amy offering a deeper glimpse into the upcoming new album Longing due out later this year. And while it acts as a follow up to his 2017 acclaimed album CamachoLonging will also mark the first time in two decades that Pete has released a record independently.

Via its title track, Longing opens with a hazy gleam, weaving oscillating textures and swooning warmth, before Amy kicks in next with all of her compelling beauty. From here, Longing transfixes with a journey through blues-soaked summery charm (Place Your Bets), stripped-back gems primed to tug at the heartstrings (Home To Me), effortlessly upbeat moments perfectly crafted for crowd singalongs (Higher) and powerful lyricism balanced alongside tranquil tones (I Am Fire). And from swaggering fare (Long Way To Go) through to affable odes that feel simultaneously nostalgic and fresh (Wouldn’t It Be Good), Longing also dazzles with tranquil toe-tappers (Heaven Calls) and a buoyant closing track (Shakes) that straddles relatability and hope, like a glimmering warm light waving you in from a storm and welcoming you home.

“I spend a lot of time in the studio and have a folder on my computer called ‘Unfinished’” explains Pete. “As the years went by, I kept adding to this folder and I kept slowly working some of my favourites in the folder. I would get an old session up and work on it some more then put it away again (sometimes for years). After a little while, I had a bunch of songs that really sounded like a great, cohesive body of work.”

“I’m all about trying to write an album that people love from start to finish. An album that means something special to someone,” Pete adds.  “You can only make an album like this with time. My first album Feeler was written over the same period of time, about 10 years. I feel there are very similar qualities on Longing as there are on Feeler.”

And Pete’s today announced his epic ‘Longing For A Trip To Byron’ album preorder competition, giving any fan that preorders the album the chance to win a trip to Byron Bay with a mate. The winner will score flights, two nights accommodation at the luxurious Elements of Byron Bay resort, and two VIP tickets to Pete’s exclusive album launch show at the Brunswick Heads Hotel. Plus, they’ll get to meet Pete and the band after the show for a special VIP experience. To enter, fans can simply pre-order Pete’s upcoming album Longing from his official Australian webstore in any format (Vinyl, CD, Digital Download, or as part of a merch bundle) and then submit the order number before the promotion period ends at 11.59am on September 4.

Undisputedly one of Australia’s most successful singer-songwriters, Pete Murray has amassed over 1.2 million album sales, hundreds of millions of streams, three ARIA chart-topping albums, and 17 ARIA Award nominations, while also continuously touring and releasing new material for over 20 years. Emerging with his debut full length album The Game in 2001, Murray’s breakout sophomore album Feeler in 2003 cemented his status as one of the all-time greats. With ongoing hits and fan-favourites along the way, including Better DaysFeelerOpportunity and So Beautiful, Murray’s stirring and enduring blend of positivity with acoustic, rock and folk elements has only amplified his revered reputation, including via his most recent full length album Camacho in 2017.

Now poised to release his eighth studio album in 2025, Pete has also cultivated a stalwart reputation for his live show, from his own headline shows with his band at home and abroad, as well as performances with the likes of Missy HigginsIcehouseRob Thomas and James Blunt along with many more. And Australian fans will be able to catch Pete live in action this October for three very special album launch shows in New South Wales.

This solo tour has been incredible,” shares Pete. “It was also strange as I had started to release new singles off the Longing album during the solo tour. I just have so much music to release at the moment so I’m just trying to keep things all moving forward. The new tour dates in October are all about the Longing album release and I will be playing with my band. Of course, it will be a mix of new songs and old classics, but definitely a focus on the new songs.”

And speaking of new songs, it’s the upcoming release of Longing that will also feature Pete Murray’s first completely independent album release in over two decades, with both the album and his return to independence a long, but entirely worthwhile, wait.

“It’s a great feeling to be independent again after 20 years,” says Pete. “My last independent album release was The Game in 2001. I think it’s fantastic owning my own masters again. I didn’t realise how important it was to own master 20 years ago, but you live and learn and now it’s all about recording great music that is powerful and means something special to someone and also that I own with music. Creating an album that is great from start to finish has been my goal for this new album Longing. I feel like I have achieved this, but the punters will be the real test to see if they feel the same.

Amy is out today.

Longing is set for release October 3.

Tickets for Pete Murray’s string of album launch shows in October are on sale now from www.petemurray.com.

News: Gorotica Announce Second Album And New Single

Gorotica Announce Second Album And New Single

To coincide with the announcement of their second album “Daily Grind of the Medieval Age”, Gorotica is releasing their third single from the upcoming record, along with an accompanying video clip. Titled “Sage, Clove and Powdered Bone”, this song sees the band tone down the blasting snares and churning guitars and instead delve into a mid-paced, old school-inspired death metal number.

Rumbling kick drums and tremolo guitars kick off the proceedings before dropping into a groovy, doomy verse where Jon Von Cannibales bellowing, guttural vocals lead the song through a tale of necrocannibalistic rituals, questionable recipes and shoddy sorcery practices, in the hopes of raising a corpse back from the dead to become a grisly “fresh” meal

Catchy choruses bookend a syncopated bridge section, head-nodding bass break and a memorable melodic guitar solo, before returning to a modified revisitation of the verse. The final chorus builds an atmosphere of creeping anticipation culminating in an outro of distant tortured howls and weeping guitar leads guiding the track to its eerie conclusion.

The video clip follows these grim lyrical and musical depictions, featuring the band performing in a black void, dressed in hooded medieval monk garb obscuring their identities. The B-roll footage provides a visual conjuring of the ritual, showing Jon Von Cannibale at his dimly lit alchemical work station, crafting and preparing a mixture in his trusty skull mortar and pestle. Pouring this vile concoction into the mouth of the prepared cadaver, he chants some supposed words of power, and after gesticulating with his wooden staff, the body begins to convulse with life. With a now living corpse before him, he begins his long awaited feast…

“Sage, Clove and Powdered Bone” releases on August 1st on all streaming platforms, and will officially appear on the second Gorotica full length album “Daily Grind of the Medieval Age” releasing on October 3rd

It’s a great day to be a Wind Walkers fan! The band have announced their forthcoming EP I Don’t Belong Here out on Friday, October 3 via Fearless Records. In celebration of the news, the quintet has dropped their new track Silk & Static and the official music video. Amidst glitchy electronics blended with crushing riffs and seamless melodies, the song’s central theme is especially relatable to those who have a neurodivergent condition.

When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Wind Walkers vocalist Trevor Borg shared: “Writing Silk & Static was like staring into a mirror and unpacking every frustrating thing about myself. It came from a place of not understanding why my mind felt so chaotic all the time and why I kept getting in my own way. After recently being diagnosed with ADHD, the pieces started falling into place, and it shed a different light on the song. It was very eye-opening in the fact that I wasn’t alone, and that this kind of internal noise or “static” is something others live with too. At its core, I wrote this song to offer comfort to people who can relate to feeling overwhelmed and misunderstood, while trying to make sense of themselves.”

Stream Silk & Static here and watch the music video here:
Wind Walkers have just kicked off their North American run with Our Last Night and Grayscale on The Final Tour, starting in St. Louis, Missouri and wrapping in Nashville, Tennessee on September 26.

On September 5, the band made a triumphant return to the top of the charts with “The Emptiness Machine,” which exploded as the #1 rock song in the country and the biggest rock song of 2024. It made a rapid climb to #1 on both the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart and Alternative Airplay Chart. About Jelly Roll:

Multi Award-winning, 4x GRAMMY® nominated Nashville native singer/songwriter Jelly Roll (Jason DeFord) claimed the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 All Genre Chart with his critically acclaimed 2024 album, Beautifully Broken — which earned the highest critical praise of his career so far from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Associated Press, NPR and more. The release concluded his most successful year yet and followed his sold-out US Beautifully Broken Arena Tour.

Just a year earlier, Jelly debuted in the Top 3 on the Billboard 200 All Genre Chart and #2 on the Top Country Album charts with his debut country album, Whitsitt Chapel (released June 2nd, 2023) – earning the biggest country debut album in Billboard Consumption Chart history. Following his sweep at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, CMA Awards, People’s Choice Awards, People’s Choice Country Awards, “country’s ‘most authentic’ new artist” (The New Yorker) continued his award-show domination into 2024, winning big at the iHeartRadio Awards and the ACM Awards, before scoring his first two GRAMMY nominations. In 2025, the multi-genre phenomenon – currently nominated for three ACM Awards including Entertainer of the Year – cemented his rise, having already won Country Artist of the Year at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards and notched two more GRAMMY nominations. Before hitting the road for Post Malone’s 2025 BIG ASS STADIUM TOUR and BIG ASS WORLD TOUR, Jelly scored his seventh #1 at country radio in the US with the six-week chart-topper “Liar,” bringing his career total up to nine #1s including: “Liar” (country/rock radio), “I Am Not Okay,” “Chevrolet” – Dustin Lynch feat. Jelly Roll, “Halfway To Hell,” “Save Me,” “Need A Favor,” “Son of A Sinner” and “Dead Man Walking” (rock radio). Now, Jelly’s spurring “Heart of Stone” – the third radio single from his Beautifully Broken record – is currently climbing the country radio charts.

“One of Nashville’s fastest rising stars” (The New York Times), he continues to break boundaries. Not just an artist but a humanitarian, Jelly continues to resonate with fans on a global scale, while racking up numerous milestones – from playing his sold-out hometown show for 18,000 fans at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to donating a recording studio at the juvenile detention center he served in as a teen, to the release of his record-breaking documentary by ABC News, Save Me – the most watched music documentary on the platform – to his visits with rehab centers and those incarcerated across the US. Featured by Nightline, GMA, GMA3, The New York Times, GQ, LA Times, The Tennessean, Billboard, Variety, American Songwriter, CMT and more, his self-built, unconventional industry rise and unique fan connection has garnered praise from numerous outlets, with Variety noting, “for everyone who’s facing the same struggles, Jelly Roll is their Springsteen,” and American Songwriter echoing, “with a string of accolades and an extremely dedicated following, Jelly Roll has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.”

About Shaboozey:

6X GRAMMY® nominated singer-songwriter Shaboozey is building his own world, carving a lane in the alternative country and hip-hop space. Born to parents of Nigerian descent and raised in the small town of Woodbridge, VA, the multi-faceted artist grew up on an eclectic mix of music encompassing classic hip-hop and R&B, to country and blues icons like Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, and Lead Belly, to master lyricists, such as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen

A true crossover artist, he began his epic rise to stardom with two standout features on Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER—the only artist with multiple appearances on the album. His latest body of work, the critically acclaimed RIAA-gold certified masterpiece Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200 and was praised by Rolling Stone for “honouring country tradition and moving it forward.” NPR calls him “the future of country music,” and the Los Angeles Times crowned him as “the breakout country artist of the year.” The album’s breakthrough anthem, the 6X RIAA-Platinum certified, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” holds the record for the longest-leading Hot 100 No. 1 while also topping Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay Chart, and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts. The single has accumulated over a billion streams across DSPs and made history making Shaboozey the first Black male artist to simultaneously top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Hot 100. He earned nominations for the 2025 GRAMMY® Awards in the general field (Best New Artist & Song of the Year), country (Best Country Song & Best Country Solo Performance), and rap (Best Melodic Rap Performance) categories. He won the New Artist of 2024 and New Artist Song of 2024 awards at the People’s Choice Country Awards, garnered Best New Artist and Song of the Summer nominations at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, and was nominated for New Artist of the Year and Single of the Year at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards. He was also named a TIME100 NEXT honouree and Billboard Country Power Player.

Highlighting not only his musical vision but also his commitment to influencing modern culture, Shaboozey debuted his collaboration for YSL Beauty’s MYSLF Le Parfum for a groundbreaking campaign. Honouring his Virginia roots, Shaboozey continues the region’s long-standing tradition of prolific creativity by expanding the scope of contemporary hip-hop, introducing modern Americana to a global audience, and bringing a unique sense of artistry to the world. His debut headline tour “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going” sold out in every market and he has played arenas across the US as part of Jelly Roll’s “Beautifully Broken” tour.

About Drew Baldridge:

Drew Baldridge has built more than just a successful career—he’s made history. His breakout hit, “She’s Somebody’s Daughter,” became the first independently released single to reach No. 1 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart as an artist’s first chart-topper, released via his own Lyric Ridge Records. Now RIAA Gold-certified, the viral ballad has generated more than 1.1 billion streams and impressions across platforms and remains the highest-charting self-funded song ever on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The success of “She’s Somebody’s Daughter” led to a deal with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville/Stoney Creek, where Baldridge followed up with his second Top 10 single “Tough People.” His newest release, “Get Me Gone” featuring Emily Ann Roberts, previews more music to come.

Baldridge was recently named to the CRS New Faces Class of 2025, selected as an iHeart On the Verge artist, and honored as MusicRow’s Independent Artist of the Year. A songwriter signed to Sony Music Publishing, Drew Baldridge has written over 500 songs, recorded by artists including Bailey Zimmerman, LOCASH, and Chase Matthew. He has toured with country stars such as Eric Church, Cody Johnson, Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan, and is currently on the road with Zimmerman, with another run alongside Johnson planned for later this year. Internationally, Baldridge will join Jelly Roll and Shaboozey on the Down Under Tour 2025, before launching his first overseas headlining trek, Country Born Tour 2025, in the UK and Europe this winter.
