News: LARGE MIRAGE REVEL IN HAZY UPBEAT BLISS VIA NEW SINGLE TAKING MY TIME + ANNOUNCE TAKING MY TIME TOUR KICKING OFF THIS WEEK

Harnessing the heady days of 60s and 70s psychedelic rock into a charismatic track lined with crisp power pop leanings, Sydney rockers LARGE MIRAGE return today with new single Taking My Time, alongside the announcement of a special run of shows that kicked off on Friday with a mind-altering set at Party In The Paddock, and will then move through NSW and VIC for a string of shows.

Performing at Waywards in Sydney on Saturday February 15, LARGE MIRAGE will also take their live show on the road to Victoria this March, with shows locked in on Friday March 7 in Brunswick, Saturday March 8 at Cohuna for Home Ground Sounds Festival, also on Saturday March 8 at Melbourne’s Cherry Bar, and on Sunday 9 March in Abbotsford. The band will also perform on Sunday March 23 in Wollongong and are locked in to perform at Meatstock on Saturday May 10 alongside the likes of Bliss n Eso, Illy, Furnace and the Fundamentals and more. Tickets for all shows are available from www.largemirage.com.

Expanding on their trademark vintage flavours, Taking My Time finds LARGE MIRAGE at their utmost earworm best, with punchy guitars, swooning vocals and infectious melodics all swirling together to conjure a sonic rabbit hole you’ll definitely want to revisit, complete with a transcendental jam break to set your senses on insatiably groovy fire. “Taking My Time is a labour of love that shows another dimension to the band,” shares LARGE MIRAGE of their latest single, “a crunchy power pop number that’s become a crowd pleaser at every show. This is one we’re super excited to show the world.”

Also accompanied by a perfectly retro-themed visualiser, complete with the LARGE MIRAGE crew decked out in their 70s finest, Taking My Timesignals an exciting new chapter for the Sydney quartet, following on from their 2024 double A side Be My Guide/Be My Friend, and their debut release, 2023’s A Side To Blame. And with their live performances already quickly becoming the stuff of legend, hailed by Scenestr as not just “reviving classic rock; they’re reinventing it with fresh fire” and The Rockpit declaring “the sky is the limit and I predict they will be ones to watch…closely”, LARGE MIRAGE’s upcoming performances launching their latest track will undoubtedly further stamp this extremely magnetic group’s reputation for captivating an entire room from start to finish; a time warp without ever leaving the room helmed by four extremely absorbing artists.

Spinning modern magic into throwback psychedelic hard rock tropes, LARGE MIRAGE drawn on iconic inspiration from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who, Deep Purple, Jefferson Airplane, Ten Years After and Steppenwolf, along with more modern leanings a la Greta Van Fleet also pulsing at the core of the LARGE MIRAGE musical cauldron. Enamouring with their earlier releases, including singles like Going Insane, Dream Machine and When The Morning Shines, the group most recently showcased their equal tenacity for pop sensibilities with 2024’s Be My Guide/Be My Friend; and, as of 2025, LARGE MIRAGE have stepped fearlessly into showcasing their multi-faceted appeal and talent, with Taking My Time only the beginning of some huge things to come from this Sydney act.

Taking My Time is out today. Tickets to the shows are available now from www.largemirage.com

The Hi Fi Way re-issue is available to pre-order now, with an exclusive blue vinyl 30th anniversary edition record, digital packages, exclusive ticket and album bundles, and more. It will be released on February 20 via Sony Music Australia – pre-order here.

As Richard Kingsmill reveals on his podcast HI FI WAY: THE MAKING OF YOU AM I, the band, when faced with the challenges of the infamous second album syndrome, simply threw away the rule book.

They imposed insane deadlines on themselves. They had scraps of song ideas just a few weeks before recording was due to start. They were a long way from home and had been for the longest of times. Near to exhaustion, after their most manic year so far, they decided to roll the dice.

The adrenalin You Am I were running off across 1994 fuelled the magic behind Hi Fi Way. The band captured bolts of lightning on the 14-song album that 30 years on still bring a sense of wonder.

Hi Fi Way is no ordinary album. There are worlds within worlds on this record. It’s an album that was largely created from the subconscious, mining some dark thoughts that only today make some sort of sense. Featuring tracks such Purple Sneakers, Cathy’s Clown, Jewels and Bullets, and How Much is Enough, the album debuted at No 1 and as Kingsmill notes, constantly makes great Australian album lists.

Hi Fi Way marks a pivotal moment in the trajectory of You Am I. Produced by Lee Ranaldo, who also co-produced the band’s debut album Sound As Ever, Hi Fi Way is the first of their 3 consecutive albums to debut at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, a feat not achieved by any Australian band prior.

Australian music journalist Ian McFarlane described the album, which “remains one of the finest Australian albums of the 1990s. Full of audacious, incisive and tuneful rock’n’roll it made its debut at #1 on the mainstream national chart …”

With Hi Fi Way, Rolling Stone Australia said You Am I created “a perfect balance between grunge and pop”, awarding it 5 stars.  Juice Magazine also bestowed a 5 star review on the album.

AllMusic noted it was “a stunning leap forward” with a 4 and a half star review, and NME acknowledged the sheer vitality of the record, calling it “a breath of fresh air”.

As music journalist Steve Bell expressed so succinctly in The Music, “at the end of the day, fans and critics adore Hi Fi Wayand shout its importance from the rooftops.”

Hi-Fi Way key stats:

·       ARIA Awards, 1995 – Best Adult Alternative Album

·       Certified GOLD status by ARIA (35,000 plus)

·       The album’s 3 official singles – Cathy’s Clown, Jewels And Bullets, and Purple Sneakers all made triple j’s Hottest 100 list of 1995

·       #8 in 2010 book The 100 Best Australian Albums (O’Donnell, Creswell, Mathieson) – described by the authors as “a textured, immediate pop record that delves through layers of memories, looking back to consider the past even as it makes sober judgements for the future.”

·       #4 in The Age’s 2008 poll ‘50 Best Australian Albums Of All Time’

·       #8 in Juice Magazine’s 2003 poll ‘50 Best Australian Albums Of All Time’

·       #35 in triple j’s 2011 poll ‘Hottest 100 Australian Albums Of All Time’

Since its February 1995 release, Hi Fi Way has remained a fan-favourite album, with a significant influence on the Australian music landscape, and has cemented Tim Rogers’ reputation as one of Australia’s great storytellers. 30 years on, Hi Fi Way remains as compelling as ever.

COMEBACK KID
RELEASE RE-RECORDED VERSION OF TITLE TRACK OF SEMINAL ALBUM WAKE THE DEAD

BAND SHARES VIDEO FOR
WAKE THE DEAD (20TH ANNIVERSARY VERSION)

DOWNLOAD PRESS ASSETS
Winnipeg hardcore band COMEBACK KID are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal album WAKE THE DEAD.

The band is releasing a re-recorded version of the title track of the record.

“The title track of our album Wake The Dead, which that we released two decades ago, provided us with more opportunities and brought us to more places around the world than we could have ever imagined,” remembers singer Andrew Neufeld with fondness for how the album impacted the band’s life and that of fans. “The song lands as the biggest moment in every single set that we’ve played — from Asia through South America to Europe, Africa, and North America.”

He continues, “We wrote and recorded the song while I was still playing guitar in the band. After 19 years of being the vocalist, and singing the song every night, we would like to celebrate and commemorate a song that gave us wings that we never knew existed by re-recording it with our current lineup and with a fresh mix provided by Will Putney.”

Watch the video for the re-done version of the song here:
Neufeld finishes, “We will be releasing the single alongside an unreleased B-side from the original 2005 Wake The Dead recording sessions on 7″, along with a number of variations of the full length re-pressed with new packaging!”

The 20th anniversary edition of the song was recorded by John Paul Peters and mixed and mastered by the aforementioned Putney.

Comeback Kid are also embarking on the album’s 20th anniversary tour through out North America later this month. They will of course play the album in its entirety. It’s no coincidence that the first show is in the band’s hometown on the date of the original’s release — February 22.

Los Angeles, California – February 7, 2025 – Nashville-based singer-songwriter Laura Bryna, popularly known for foot-stomping Country Rock songs like “Over Being Under You” and “Certified,” has released her new single, “Lil’ Bit Of Jesus, Lil’ Bit Of Hank.” Known for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence, Laura delivers an electric guitar-led, feel-good country rock anthem that’s available now on all streaming platforms HERE.

Laura says of the song, “‘Lil Bit of Jesus, Lil Bit of Hank’ is really just me in a nutshell. It’s about finding that balance in life—holding onto your faith and your roots, but also cutting loose and having a good time.” In describing the making of the song, Bryna said, “I wanted to write something that feels real, fun, and a little wild, because that’s what life is all about. It’s like a Sunday morning after a Saturday night—both parts make you who you are.”

“Lil’ Bit Of Jesus, Lil’ Bit Of Hank” follows a tremendous 2024 for Bryna, capped off by the release of her foot-stomping, fierce and feisty rendition of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and its accompanying music video, which was filmed in the famous Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas. Earlier in the year, she released her original “Over Being Under You,” where she delivers a powerful message of self-empowerment and resilience. It follows her previous songs, “Certified,” “Jawbreaker,” and “Body First.” She also performed at last year’s SXSW in Austin, TX and the Live in the Vineyard festival in Napa Valley, CA.

Beyond her Country Rock persona, Laura also takes on her “Miss Christmas” persona during the holidays with her catchy holiday pop song, “Wishlist.” Having been born on Christmas day, Laura has always cherished the Holiday season and she released her cheerful holiday single in 2023, which took the holiday season by blizzard. “Wishlist” topped the Holiday Retail Radio chart, reached the top 5 in the US Holiday Radio Chart, and reached top 20 in the Adult Contemporary chart. This past holiday season, Laura shared the gift of “Wishlist” across the country at places like the Hollywood Christmas Parade, on Nashville’s ‘Talk Of The Town’ TV show, on Fox 5 NY’s ‘Good Night New York’ TV show, CBS ‘Great Day Live’ TV show, and more.

Laura is also closely involved with many humanitarian and philanthropic causes such as Musicians On Call, Homes For Our Troops (a non-profit that provides specially adapted custom homes for injured US veterans) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

New Album ‘Tsunami Sea’ Album Out March 7, 2025

“one of the best new bands right now” – FORBES
“Spirtbox forces are not to be reckoned with” – FLAUNT

Spiritbox, the boundary-pushing force redefining modern metal, return with their latest single, “No Loss, No Love“—a genre-fluid odyssey that seamlessly collides pulverizing prog-metal, hypnotic electronica, and haunting spoken-word passages. Courtney LaPlante is in peak form, her voice stretching from guttural depths to android-like serenity, channeling both raw power and eerie detachment. Produced by Dan Braunstein and Spiritbox’s Mike Stringer, the track twists and turns, building from ominous tension to a crescendo of swirling chaos. “No Loss, No Love” feels like a companion to “Yellow Jacket” from the band’s acclaimed Eternal Blue album.

Accompanying the track is a visually arresting music video, directed by Max Moore and Mike Stringer. Shot in Los Angeles, the video matches the song’s frenetic energy, cutting between the band thrashing on a platform engulfed by crashing waves and LaPlante draped in pearls and bold, avant-garde glam, exuding an otherworldly presence. The contrast between organic destruction and meticulous artistry mirrors the sonic textures woven throughout “No Loss, No Love.”

The 24-date trek—produced by Live Nation—brings Loathe, Dying Wish, and GEL along for the ride, tearing through cities across the U.S. and Canada.

This northern summer, Spiritbox will step onto even bigger stages, joining Linkin Park for select stadium dates in Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK. Fans should keep their ear to the ground for more Spiritbox tour dates to come.

ABOUT SPIRITBOX:
For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays Spiritbox, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque yet isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single “Holy Roller,” along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in a media firestorm of hype.

With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, Spiritbox exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album Eternal Blue via Pale Chord/Rise Records. Eternal Blue, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre’s playbook with 12 stunning tracks that incorporated everything from djent and post-metal to infectious synth-laden pop sensibilities and cinematic arrangements, brought fully to life by the inimitable Laplante’s ethereal and commanding vocal performances.

The album cycle for Eternal Blue saw Spirtbox not only grace the covers of esteemed music publications such as Revolver, Alternative Press, Rock Sound, and Kerrang!, among many others but would also solidify the band as one of the most in-demand groups in live music today with their one-hundred percent sold out, first-ever headlining tour in support of the album which saw ticket sales over 40,000. The band would also share the stage with seasoned metal veterans such as Limp Bizkit and Ghost and win Best International Breakthrough Band at the 2021 Heavy Music Awards.

In 2022, Spiritbox secured highly-coveted spots at numerous major US rock and metal festivals and were nominated for two JUNO awards, respectively. Spiritbox would also round out their current lineup with the inclusion of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert in addition to releasing their sonically experimental EP Rotoscope in June of that year as well as a cross-genre collaboration with dubstep artist Illenium for the track “Shivering.”

During another whirlwind year for the band, including a US tour with Shinedown and Papa Roach, Spiritbox wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP, The Fear of Fear, released in November 2023. The EP features the single “Jaded,” which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. In the same month, the band would make another genre-bending splash with a high-profile collaboration with rapper Megan Thee Stallion for a remix of her song “Cobra.”

Whatever comes next for Spiritbox, one thing is for sure: expect the unexpected and a firm commitment to creating wholly authentic music with passion, purpose, and constant evolution.

Alternative pop singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Carlie Hanson has dropped too late to cry, her debut EP with Fearless Records. The 7-track release is accompanied by the official music video for her standout singlecovering faces, a vibey song that has struck a chord with fans for its unfiltered emotional depth and cathartic power.

A bold reflection of personal growth and newfound creative independence, too late to cry is a powerful testament to Hanson’s evolution as an artist. Written and produced by Carlie herself, the EP explores themes of loss, self-empowerment, and resilience. The journey that led to the project was anything but smooth. After parting ways with her first record label, Carlie found herself at a crossroads. She embraced the challenge, channeling her experiences into creating a body of work that’s deeply reflective and sonically vibrant. Signing with Fearless Records provided Carlie with the perfect platform to continue her journey, giving her the creative freedom to fully realize her vision and take complete control over her music.

On signing Carlie Hanson, Fearless Records President Andy Serrao shared, “Carlie Hanson is an incredible artist, and we couldn’t be happier she’s chosen Fearless Records as her home. She brings a unique point of view that adds depth to our roster – we’re excited to begin this partnership with her.”

“The creation of my EP too late to cry started back in 2023,”Carlie explains. “I was in that gray area of writing, being about 98% finished with my album ‘Wisconsin’ and starting to think about songs for whatever project was coming next. Shortly after the release of ‘Wisconsin’, I was dropped from my first record deal and became independent. It was a difficult thing to understand, because I thought I had just brought my best work to the table. But times were changing, and I accepted that.

“At first, I was frustrated and let down”, she adds. “But I soon came to find out that this was not an uncommon thing artists go through, and it could be a blessing in disguise. I was excited to have more creative control. It’s too late to cry really is the theme of this project. You can’t dwell on loss forever, you gotta keep moving forward, continue to grow, and move past the hurt.”

The EP reflects this mindset, turning moments of vulnerability into empowering anthems for anyone who’s faced personal struggles. From the ethereal introspection of how many hours? to the vivid storytelling of sinking, too late to crybeautifully blends Carlie’s personal reflections with her genre-blending sound, encompassing atmospheric synths, soulful guitar work, and electronic beats.

One of the EP’s defining tracks, covering faces, is a bold, cathartic release about shedding the weight of toxic relationships. Describing the inspiration behind the track, Carlie shares, “I wish I could say this song is as deep as everyone thinks it is. When I wrote it, I free-styled most of it, it all just subconsciously fell out of me. There are a lot of people who are no longer in my life that once were, and I thought they were sticking around forever. This song is kind of that ‘f*ck you, I never needed you anyway’ song of the EP.”

The music video for covering faces was shot in Japan and directed by Erik Rojas, capturing Carlie in solitude as she navigates different settings — sitting beneath a tree, riding the subway, and walking through bustling streets. The melancholy tone of the video shifts when she makes a connection with a stranger on a bench. This moment of unexpected camaraderie mirrors the song’s middle finger vibe, adding a layer of hope and transformation to its otherwise raw and introspective energy.

The choice of Japan as the location was symbolic for Carlie, representing her feeling of being a “nomad” in her current phase of her life. After spending almost seven years in Los Angeles, Carlie returned to her hometown of Wisconsin, only to later find herself seeking something beyond any one place. Japan, a land she had never been to, became the perfect backdrop for her exploration of self-discovery. “It just felt fitting for the attitude of the song… to go across the world on this journey. To continue to find out and learn more about myself and the world around me. Move forward from the past,”explains Carlie.

With too late to cry, Carlie Hanson marks a new era in her career, taking full control of her creative process while delivering a deeply emotional, yet empowering message. As she says, “When you listen to this, I want you to feel hope, sadness, nostalgia, inspiration, or just anything at all. If my music can help you be motivated or sit with your feelings for a second, there would be nothing better. I’m not as depressed as I was as a 17-year-old girl. I’m taking charge. I’m growing up. I’m writing the music I want to write.”

News: OASIS: STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS 25TH ANNIVERSARY RE-RELEASE

STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS
CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY
LIMITED EDITION SILVER & COLOURED VINYL RE-RELEASE

Today – 7th February 2025 – Oasis announce the 25th anniversary reissue of their fourth studio album, Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants – available on limited edition vinyl including silver LP and official store exclusive blue and purple marble LP on the anniversary of the original release date, 28th February. Pre-order here. Today’s news is accompanied by a new lyric video for the album’s first single ‘Go Let It Out’, originally released 25 years ago today. Sign up to the YouTube premiere here.

A pivotal moment in Oasis’ storied history, Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants marked the start of a new era for the band. ‘Go Let It Out’ was the first release on Noel and Liam Gallagher’s own label Big Brother Recordings Ltd, established in January 2000 following the sudden closure of Oasis’ former UK label Creation Records. Big Brother’s debut release was rushed into production and released on 7th February 2000, only seven weeks after the label’s inception.

Set up by Noel and Liam, together with their management team and entirely self-financed, Big Brother was the only real option for one of the most independently minded bands in the UK. Including the rights for the band’s existing catalogue as well as new releases, in the 25 years since its birth, Big Brother has gone on to be responsible for 10 number 1 albums and over 15 Billion streams globally.

Following the meteoric global success of Definitely Maybe (1994), What’s The Story (Morning Glory?) (1995) and Be Here Now (1997), with Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants Oasis embraced a bold development in their sound. Noel Gallagher took a broader and more experimental approach to recording, resulting in a departure from their earlier sounds towards a modern psychedelic rock influenced record. This experimentation and richer sonic palette was in part due to Noel taking more time to craft this record than he had previously enjoyed. New instruments and techniques were utilised, including drum loops, samples, electric sitar, Mellotron, synthesisers and backward guitars, all contributing to a progression in Oasis’ output. Several tracks on the album also saw Oasis use samples for the first time. ‘Fuckin’ In The Bushes’contains samples from Murray Lerner’s film ‘Message To Love Isle Of Wight 1970’ whilst ‘Go Let It Out’ contains elements from Johnny Jenkins ‘I Walk on Gilded Splinters’. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants also marked the first time that Liam Gallagher contributed songwriting to an Oasis album (‘Little James’), with this continuing on subsequent albums.

Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants holds further significance as the first Oasis album to be released following the change to the original band line up. Gem Archer and Andy Bell took over guitar and bass duties respectively for the album’s live activity, following the departure of Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan. Also significant to the recording process Mark “Spike” Stent took up production duties alongside Noel.

The bold new sounds were quickly embraced by Oasis’ fans, and Standing On The Shoulder Of Giantsreached No.1 in the UK Album Charts, selling over 310,000 copies in its first week alone. It is now certified double platinum and has also sold in excess of 200,000 copies in the US. Moreover, the legacy of its songs continues to burn bright in Oasis back catalogue. ‘Fuckin’ In The Bushes’ cemented itself in fans consciousness as the incendiary rallying cry Oasis walked on stage to for subsequent live shows. ‘Go Let It Out’, a classic slice of Noel’s very best songwriting, backed with hypnotic drum loop and Mellotron, topped the single charts in UK, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. And with the spiralling chaos of ‘Gas Panic!’, the band showed their ability to masterfully explore new territory with dark, sobering textures and an expertly crafted sense of unease.

The 25th anniversary of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants lands at the start of a year that is sure to belong to Oasis as fans eagerly anticipate the Oasis Live ‘25 tour, the reunion that ended years of feverish speculation. Unprecedented demand and a resounding global appetite made the announcement the music story of 2024. Last year also saw the 30th anniversary edition of Definitely Maybe reach No.1 in the UK album charts for a second time in its history.

In the midst of a pivotal moment in the remarkable story of Oasis, reflecting on another during its 25th anniversary, feels particularly apt. With Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, Oasis embarked on a bold new chapter, one that would lay the foundation for everything that was to follow as the band took control of their own destiny.
