Jen Mize & The Rough N’ Tumble
NORTH CAROLINA
The third single from the band’s new album ‘TILT’ is out today.
There’s a generosity of spirit that radiates from Jen Mize. Anyone who knows her will agree she’s a delight; gregarious, welcoming, interested, and quick to laugh. That spirit shines crystal clear in ‘North Carolina’ – the third single from her band The Rough N’ Tumble’s new album ‘Tilt’(due out later this year).
A romping road trip through the American south (the home of Jen’s extended family),‘North Carolina’ has a groove that Jen lovingly refers to as ‘a little Boogaloo’. The cover art references a vintage North Carolina license plate and the state flower, Jen’s favourite, the Dogwood tree.
‘North Carolina’ is all about that famous Southern hospitality that Jen carries with her even now after 20+ years of calling Australia home. “I’ve never regretted my choice moving to Australia, not at all; it’s just easy to look back on my childhood with warmth and a bit of nostalgia.”
Mize continues “‘North Carolina’ is about sharing those feelings with my family and friends here in Australia. About how when we travel, if we’re lucky and we keep our hearts open, we may find pockets of culture that somehow, strangely make us feel like home. It is welcoming new people, and trusting in the innate goodness of others. That no matter our differences we can find good-natured laughs, kindness and a sense of common ground by opening our hearts”.
‘”I’ve definitely found that nature in Australia to, that generosity, warmth and kindness in the people I’ve met, both as a musician and just going about daily life.”
‘North Carolina’ is as generous and upbeat in spirit as its creator. Enjoy!
‘North Carolina‘ follows on from ‘Greater Good’and ‘Double Talk’ – the first two singles lifted from the band’s new album ‘Tilt’ – due out later this year.
