News: Mayatrix & The Psychics, Release Dirty New Single, Mess Princess

Perth psychedelic act Mayatrix & The Psychics are back with fiery new single, Mess Princess.

After being personally requested by Ian Astbury of The Cult, to support their full Australian tour in 2024 off the back of supporting Indonesian metal-trio Voice Of Baceprot and Australian prog-rock kings Karnivool, Mayatrix & The Psychics are no longer Australia’s best kept secret and are on the precipice of bursting onto the world stage.

They present to you, Mess Princess.

‘Mess Princess’ is the third single from their forthcoming second album, following
Black Moon Medicine and Mortal & Divine and is a crowd favourite at their electrifying live show, delivering a track so abundant with sass and charisma, it says “we’re here to make our mark (with teeth)”. 

‘Mess Princess’ is an energetic and edgy groove that mixes shades of rock, psychedelia, industrial, goth-surrealism and post-punk (as laid down by The Psychics), topped with the sassy, spat-out and spoken vocal delivery of the spell-binding Moana Mayatrix. Produced and mixed by Andy Lawson at Debaser Studios (Ben Witt, Little Birdy, Eskimo Joe) in Western Australia, ‘Mess Princess’ throws expectations out the window of their previous sound with this gritty and cheeky track, harking similarities to their most streamed song ‘The Cultess’ with its heavy riffs and powerful, witchy vocals front and centre, but with a new found playfulness.

‘Mess Princess’ is an anthem for the anti-princess; tearing away at the perfection and composure expected of us – whether it be as a woman, our face in society or a mask we wear in the game of life, it pokes fun at the roles we play and evokes being a wildly beautiful human mess. It’s an anthem of sensuality, freedom of expression, the wild and unhinged feminine force, claiming your space and having fun while making a MESS of all structures, expectations and restrictions while doing so.
