SYDNEY, September 14, 2026: On the 20th Anniversary of Youth Group’s #1 single ‘Forever Young’, the beloved Sydney band have announced the release of an EP, ‘Forever Young – Remixed and Reimagined’, with accompanying east coast tour dates confirmed for October and November. Out on Friday 16 October via Cassell Records, the EP will feature a collection of the band’s favourite musicians who have come on board to remix the 2006 hit with Youth Group also re-recording two new versions of ‘Forever Young’ themselves. ‘Forever Young (Acoustic)’ with a string section and ‘Forever Young (2026 redux)’. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Toby Martin explains, “We asked some of our favourite musicians to remix ‘Forever Young’. The results have ranged from euphoric dance floor to psychic journey, sometimes in the same track. We have also re-recorded the track, keeping it similar to our 2006 version, but with an added string section, and an acoustic version”. The Forever Young 20th Anniversary Tour commences in late October, with Martin adding, “We are not going to play Forever Young twelve times on this tour (although that was tempting!) but will probably play it once. Plus we will play Skeleton Jar tracks, and some other favourites”. Tickets are on sale now for Friday 30 October at the Evelyn Hotel, Melbourne, followed by shows in Canberra at Dissent on Saturday 31 October, Sydney’s The Vanguard on Friday 6 November, concluding in Coffs Harbour at the Tidal Sounds Music Festival, the Hoey Moey on Saturday 7 November. Reflecting on the significant 20th anniversary milestone, Martin continues, “2026 represents a double anniversary. The 21st birthday of the international release of our album Skeleton Jar (through Anti-/Epitaph) and the 20th birthday of Forever Young being a number one single in Australia. After Epitaph signed us and released Skeleton Jar, our lives changed very quickly. We were suddenly touring the US and UK, playing with Death Cab, and at Reading and Leeds and Coachella. It was an amazing adventure. And then the OC commissioned us to do a cover of Forever Young. We were reluctant at first, but then thought we could put our own spin on it. A bit of our melancholy sparkle. We never predicted it would even be a single, let alone do as well as it did. It became a song that really resonated with people – played at graduations, and often at funerals too. Sometimes it felt like it wasn’t our song anymore, but had become something for others”.
