Kill The Lights announce debut album ‘The Sinner’ drop new video/single ‘Through The Night’
ALBUM ARRIVES AUGUST 21 VIA FEARLESS RECORDS
BAND SHARES VIDEO FOR NEW SONG “THROUGH THE NIGHT”
ALBUM TO BE RELEASED VIA FEARLESS RECORDS & CAROLINE AUSTRALIA

New Fearless Records signing Kill The Lights, which features former members of Bullet For My Valentine and Throw the Fight, have announced their debut album The Sinner. The record arrives August 21 on Fearless Records and can be found at: https://found.ee/thesinner.

To celebrate the news, the band has shared the video for the new song “Through The Night,” which premiered at Hot Topic.

“The song very personally hits home for me” shares singer James Clark. “I have struggled for the longest time with anxiety and depression and ‘Through the Night’ is a snapshot of what is going through the mind of someone struggling with these types of mental health issues. The song takes you on a roller coaster ride and captures the ups and downs of someone carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, going from happy and energetic one minute to being paralyzed by fear and worry the next.”

Clark continues, “Luckily, I found just enough strength to speak up and get some help. I will be the first person to admit I still find it hard to share feelings and talk about my problems. Sharing my struggles through my lyrics is a form of rehab for me — it allows me to be honest and open while still being able to hide behind the music. I hope that this song truly connects with listeners who feel trapped and alone with these types of feelings and that it empowers them to reach out and get the help they might need.”

Previously, Kill The Lights shared their cover of Testament’s 1988-released classic thrash anthem “Into the Pit.”

KILL THE LIGHTS are James Clark — Vocals (ex-Throw The Fight), Jordan Whelan — Guitar (Still Remains), Michael “Moose” Thomas — Drums (ex-Bullet For My Valentine) and Travis Montgomery — Guitar (ex-Threat Signal).

Kill The Lights’ debut album ‘The Sinner’ will be available on Friday August 21 through Fearless Records/Caroline Australia, with new single ‘Through The Night available now. The album is available for pre-order now at https://found.ee/thesinner.

News: Hayley Marsten Reveals New Single & Video ‘Pretty’

In her new single ‘Pretty’, Hayley Marsten tackles the ugly reality of the entertainment industry and its damaging beauty standards. It comes off the back of her hit single ‘Spectacular Heartbreak’, which peaked at #3 on the The Music Network County Airplay Charts, received over 260,000 streams on Spotify and was added to country and commercial mainstream radio rotation across the nation.

Never one to shy away from an opinion, Marsten wrote ‘Pretty’ after she realised that most of the comments she received on social media weren’t about her talent or work ethic, but rather how attractive she was. ‘I feel like it’s not enough for women in the entertainment industry – in any industry, actually – to be talented, hardworking, smart or fun – we have to be pretty too,’ she says. ‘At the start of my career, multiple people told me that I’d be deemed unprofessional if I went to a gig without a full face of make up or my hair done, whereas my male counterparts could rock up in footy shorts and thongs and that would be celebrated.’

It’s a double standard that unfortunately pervades all workplaces and for Marsten, ‘this song is my middle finger to the unattainable and impossible beauty standards thrust upon women. The fact is, my beauty is the most uninteresting thing about me and it’s the most uninteresting thing about all women.’

‘Pretty’ was recorded at Love Hz Studios with Matt Fell during the recording of her album Spectacular Heartbreak. The album earned Marsten a Golden Guitar and Queensland Music Award nomination, while Fell has too many accolades to count thanks to a career spent producing country artists like Fanny Lumsden and Shane Nicholson. And while Marsten had the best in the business assist with the song’s recording and production, she took it upon herself to record the accompanying film clip because of the pandemic-induced restrictions affecting 2020.

‘I had originally planned a different team for the video shoot but then Covid-19 hit,’ says Marsten, ‘and it wasn’t really an option. But as more time passed and I experienced more things that the song was written about, I felt that directing, producing and editing the video myself was the best thing for the project.’

The video, which is purposely raw and simple, features polaroids of women (taken by Marsten) who wrote something about them that they are proud of which isn’t related to looks. ‘I wanted to involve as many women as possible,’ she says, ‘but again, with Covid, I couldn’t travel to get more. I guess I just wanted it to be as raw as possible for this song that I’m so proud of. It’s my first time directing and editing a video and, considering the subject matter, I think it was the perfect opportunity to do more than just writing and performing.’ The video was shot with the help of Marsten’s partner, Dan Sugars, and also features Marsten in her most natural state – no make-up, no hair styling, no fancy clothes, but still just as moving.

News: JACK BRATT ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE + VIDEO THE OUTSIDER

Vast storyteller, and rocking troubadour Jack Bratt has today announced the release of his ripping new single The Outsider, a song about self-identity and perception [Listen: The Outsider], complemented by an entertaining spaceman-themed video clip [Watch: The Outsider].

A grand, existential exploration of fitting in when feeling like an outcast, The Outsider hits notes of timeless rock that will have fans of Holy Holy and Foo Fighters salivating. Recorded and produced by Joel Myles at Hunting Ground Studios in Brisbane, and mastered by Mat Bartlem (Matt Corby, Jarred James, Boo Seeka), Bratt’s timeless new single is a thoughtful and moving piece; an exciting next step from one of Australia’s favourite newcomers.

Jack Bratt’s emotive vocal strikes a chord from the outset with sharp, moving lyrics that reflect on feelings of isolation widely felt during this worldwide pandemic. “It’s about being left of centre, about not fitting in,” the Brisbane musician says about the song, “it’s about perception. You may have an idea about how others view you, but that’s not necessarily who you are. It’s easy to think somebody might be doing really well, but that could just be a front, while they’re dealing with a lot of problems. I think what I’ve learned from being in lockdown and having conversations with friends, is that nobody is really okay; we all have our own struggles.”

With plans of heading to New York City in June for a three month artist residency (thanks to his recent Grant McLennan Fellowship accolade) momentarily quashed due to the virus, Bratt’s new single speaks to the current halted state of the music industry and the effect it has had on mental health, explaining, “Anxiety is at the core of the song. It’s really about trying to get by, but everybody is carrying around some sort of pain with them. It’s alarming how many people I know especially in the music industry who suffer with anxiety and mental health.”

The video clip for The Outsider brings an extra-terrestrial element into the fold, spaceman cometh! Directed by Bradley Murnane from Spilting Films, the video tells a story of an astronaut who has fallen to Earth and is trying to find his way home, only to find love along the way. “I was just thinking about the most extreme version of somebody who doesn’t fit in and stumbled on the idea of a man who falls from space and is trying to find his way home,” Bratt says of the charming clip, “but in the end, he transitions into a normal life on earth, adding a fun little twist.”

Jack Bratt has begun work on his debut album which is set for release in early 2021, and with new music on the way his fans are champing at the bit to hear more from this exciting rocker.

The Outsider is out today, July 30.

News: BETTER NOISE FILMS RELEASE THE FIRST TRAILER FOR SNO BABIES VM

BETTER NOISE FILMS RELEASE THE FIRST TRAILER FOR

“SNO BABIES”

COMING TO ON-DEMAND & DIGITAL SEPTEMBER 29TH

Sydney, Australia (August 3rd, 2020) – Better Noise Films has released the first trailer to Bridget Smith’s feature film SNO BABIES. The film, produced by Allen Kovac, Mike Walsh and Michael Lombardi, stars Katie Kelly (Game of Silence), Paola Andino (Queen of the South), Michael Lombardi (Rescue Me), Evangeline Young (The Good Wife) and Joanne Baron (This Is Us).

SNO BABIES will be available on On-Demand & Digital platforms on Tuesday, September 29.

Trailer YouTube Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e2f_CtJTvo

A gripping and emotive tale, SNO BABIES depicts the grim realities of addiction and its effects on a middle-class suburban town. Kristen and Hannah are best friends–smart, likable and college-bound– and also addicted to heroin. The pair of seemingly unlikely addicts spiral down a path of destruction, hiding their secret from well-meaning but busy parents behind pink bedrooms and school uniforms SNO BABIES shows how easy it can be to both miss and hide the signs of addiction behind the façade of “good” neighbourhoods and pleasantly busy communities.

SNO BABIES is the first feature from Better Noise Films, a new venture from entertainment mogul Allen Kovac. As manager of artists such as Bee Gee’s, Luther Vandross, Blondie, Meatloaf, Motley Crue and The Cranberries, Kovac has put together many TV Documentaries for his artists such as HBO special ‘The Bee Gee’s One Night Only’, MTV VH1 special ‘Mötley Crüe’s Resurrection of Mötley Crüe’, Meat Loaf: In Search of Paradise.

Most recently Kovac co-produced Netflix 2018 sensation ‘The Dirt’ based on the life of Mötley Crüe, with 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and SNO BABIES is the first of two 2020 releases for Kovac’s Better Noise Films.

Kovac said, “Studio heads, agents and managers know there is nothing sadder than when an artist or actor you’ve worked with passes away through misadventure. This movie is a wakeup call to the entertainment industry that we can’t lose more Academy Award winners like PrincePhilip Seymour Hoffman, or River Phoenix.”  He continued “With over 70,000 people dying of drug overdoses in 2019 in the USA, this film is a way parents can open up the conversation of drugs with their kids before they go to college, an older brother can share a link to SNO BABIES to his younger brother to watch and say that he’s there to answer any questions afterwards, or for a rehab group to watch together. This is a conversation we need to have in the USA to destigmatize addiction. I have worked with Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe and SIXX:AM for 13 years to make this a global conversation to save lives, please join us!“

With the US opioid epidemic spiking from COVID factors, and the entertainment industry continuing to lose its people to substance use disorders, Better Noise Entertainment has committed to fighting this problem by collaborating with the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI) to raise funds globally that will strengthen the field of recovery and directly benefit struggling communities. Better Noise Entertainment will use their expertise in content creation, audience connection and creative storytelling to develop and amplify messaging to a wide pop-culture audience.

Better Noise Films’ share of profits from the movie and the soundtrack sales will be used globally to deploy Recovery Corps workers into communities to provide peer support and access to services for those in early recovery.

Other entertainment industry companies collaborating on this project to save lives include Live Nation, Ticketmaster, iHeart, Pandora, Sirius among others.

“Pop culture is a key vehicle to breaking stigma and educating the public about both danger and hope,” said Catherine Hartnett, Executive Director of the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI). “Young people, especially, resonate with messaging that is cultural and reflects emotional and personal experience.  This movie and its soundtrack convey a message of hope coming from despair and can give a young person who is struggling a sense of hope that they too can get well and thrive.”

“It’s incredibly important to shine a light and lend a helping hand to people that are struggling with substance abuse, especially during these trying times,” said Rick Franks, President of Live Nation North American Touring. “Live Nation is proud to support Better Noise in their commitment to save lives and raise awareness for such an important cause.”

The official SNO BABIES soundtrack features some of the biggest names in rock music today. The album will feature a brand new song “Maybe It’s Time” by SIXX:A.M. Presents: Artists For Recovery, an all-star collaboration put together by Nikki Sixx featuring Slash, Brantley Gilbert, Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch, Tommy Vext of Bad Wolves, Aaron Bruno of AWOLNation, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and more, which will raise money for GRI.

The soundtrack will also include two tracks from SIXX:AM and including the US Top 10 hit from Country/Rock star Cory Marks (“Outlaws & Outsiders” – US #1 country song iTunes) and from chart toppers Bad Wolves (“Sober” – the US #1 hit) as well as new music from Eva Under Fire, From Ashes to New and Escape The Fate.

News: James Chatburn Shares ‘Jewellery and Gold’ Single from Debut LP ‘Faible’

Having recently released his ‘In My House’ single which received praise from NME and COMPLEX, Berlin based Australian soul singer, songwriter and producer James Chatburnis back with the ‘Jewellery and Gold’ single, taken from his upcoming debut album ‘Faible’ – out July 31st.

James Chatburn has combined influences from divided musical worlds from Unknown Mortal Orchestra to D’angelo to create something which does not fit into any one mould. Having first made a name for himself in the modern soul scene, he now edges into a world of psychedelia and nostalgia. ‘Jewellery and Gold’ takes a tongue-in-cheek look forward to a future where money would flow steadily and all of his issues would dissolve. With a break-beat groove pushing the song forward, the vocals and bass keep it cool in the chorus, while relenting to a more passionate performance in the verses.

“It started off as a noughties Pharrell/Neptunesy kind of vibe, but then I replaced the original synth with a piano and I decided to go for this throwback soul feeling, coming back to this Neptune’s vibe in part c. As an indie artist I don’t live off much money, but sometimes I think, damn it would be nice to have a little more, even if I know that’s not gonna solve anything” James Chatburn

Since touring with Jordan Rakei and The Internet, producing for Brooklyn’s rum.gold, releasing on Majestic Casual and Soulection and collaborating with Australian hip hop legends Hilltop Hoods on their certified Gold single ‘Higher’, 2020 will reveal the culmination of the last few years of persistence and discovery.

James Chatburn ‘Jewellery and Gold’ is available from Friday, 24th July.
The debut ‘Faible’ LP is due for release in 2020.

News: LOTTIE LIAMS ANTHEMIC NEW SINGLE ‘UNCOMFORTABLE’ CALLS OUT YOUR TOXIC EX SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO

Lottie Liams is back, and bursting through your door with sparkling new indie-pop track ‘Uncomfortable.’ Upbeat and danceable at first glance, this track comes laced with themes of frustration, manipulation and hypocrisy, turning the sound on its head and empowering all who hear.

Since the release of her last track ‘Blame It All On Me’ earlier this year, Lottie has been writing up a storm and ‘Uncomfortable’ is sitting in its eye. The second release of what is soon to be the three-track Guide to Growing Thorns, ‘Uncomfortable’ speaks to moving beyond people who play the victim and exploit you; not letting them tear you down.

With the help of producer Ben Stewart (Slowly Slowly), the team have created a soundscape that makes space for you to let out all your pent up frustration and to dance and sing along while you’re at it.

Using this newly allotted time to grow, social isolation has seen Lottie writing and adapting to the new world, playing online shows for both Isol-Aid Festival and her own single launch. Coming out of lockdown, her shows will see the addition of a live band, changing the pace and helping audiences fall for her like never before.

News: NATHAN CAVALERI SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT + NEW ALBUM DEMONS SET FOR RELEASE AUGUST 6

NATHAN CAVALERI SHARES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT + NEW ALBUM DEMONS SET FOR RELEASE AUGUST 6 + ANNOUNCED IN FIRST BLUESFEST LINEUP FOR 2021
+ TOUR FOR OCT/NOV + AUSTRALIAN STORY FEATURE TO AIR EARLY AUGUST

Nathan Cavaleri is back and set to release his first solo album, Demons (out August 6) since being signed to Michael Jackson’s label at age twelve, today sharing his affecting new single, Before You Check Out, an introspective song with a deeply important message and a suitably poignant film clip. Cavaleri will be celebrating the release of his new album with a national tour and was yesterday announced on the first Bluesfest 2021 lineup. This is an artist with an incredible story to tell, so it’s fitting that ABC’s Australian Story will in early August be airing an episode detailing Nathan Cavaleri’s extraordinary life. Picking up a guitar and learning enough basic skills from his Dad to play along with his favourite blues albums at just three years old, Nathan was playing electric guitar by five and had played his first gig by six – a 90 minute busking set in front of his Mother’s coffee shop that saw him take home $270. Soon after, Nathan was diagnosed and treated for leukaemia, and the Starlight Foundation set up a meeting with his hero Mark Knopfler, attracting the attention of the media and soon after, a host of Aussie music icons. By age ten, Nathan was making regular appearances on Hey Hey It’s Saturday and had toured the country extensively playing sold out arenas with Jimmy Barnes and Diesel, by twelve he’d toured the world and played with BB King, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, and had made guest appearances on all the big American TV talk shows, he even performed for the Clintons during their time in office. He was pursued by Prince and Madonna, and a bidding war ensued, with Nathan eventually signing to Michael Jackson’s MJJ Records. Soon after, seven years after his diagnosis, Nathan was given a clean bill of health at age thirteen. He recorded a bunch of records, starred in Camp Nowhere – a Disney film alongside Jessica Alba – and even starred in an episode of Baywatch alongside The Hoff, and after one final tour with BB King, Nathan decided to take a break. He came back to Australia and started a blues rock band with Col Hatcham from The Screaming Jets, dropping releases and touring extensively before suffering adrenal fatigue and severe anxiety which spiraled into depression and saw Nathan step away from the stage. He’s since taken a number of years to work on his health, has dealt with and learned to manage his personal demons and has a newfound appreciation for his unique story. And now Nathan is back and ready to unleash his unique and commanding new music on the world. View: mini doco on Nathan’s life.

New single Before You Check Out is a discreetly powerful song with gloriously sanguine finger picking, emotive slide guitar and Nathan’s effortless, velvety voice holding a warmth and tenderness that sits perfectly atop simple and effective instrumentation. Written for a cousin who lost his battle with mental illness a few years ago, Nathan explains, “I strongly identified with what he went through and wished I had reached out to him. Having battled my own demons, I wondered whether my experience would have helped. I contemplated what I’d share if time could show mercy. I would share how our thoughts and beliefs colourise our experience and skew our perception of the world, giving us a false sense of reality – a notion that helped me to expose the root of many of my physical and mental health issues that were mistakenly believed to be out of my control.”

Complemented by a film clip that highlights the sentiment of the song – that our views of the world can be tainted by projections of our past – the video further reveals the intense authenticity of the artist, with Nathan taking centre stage, vulnerabilities laid bare.

The Demons album boasts a diverse mix of songs from the impressive guitarist and vocalist who manages to bend genres, cleverly intertwining blues with indie rock pop and soul to create a vintage modern sound of his own, that ‘Nathan Cavaleri’ sound. And his talents don’t stop there, with most of the album produced, engineered and mixed by Nathan himself, excluding five tracks that were co-produced and mixed by Tony Buchen (Montaigne, The Preatures), and mastered by Viking Lounge.

“What matters to me most is that I have a body of work that expresses messages that I’m deeply passionate about on a bed of music that is built on a lifetime of writing, recording and touring,” insights Nathan. “The bulk of Demons was created during a time when I didn’t believe that I’d be mentally and physically stable enough to return to the stage. All songs were written from a place of catharsis. Lyrical themes range from antidotes for the depressed to my fascination for the more taboo side of desire. All falling one way or another under the theme of how humans crumble, melt, face, overpower, surrender, run or dance with our Demons.”

Eager to make his way around the country on tour, Nathan explains what fans can expect from his shows, saying, “In contrast to my younger years as a performer, the Demons tour will see me connecting to audiences in an intimate story-telling type of way. As a kid I had something to play, now I have something to say. My set will be strung together with epic and incredulous stories of growing up on the road, to how my connection to music deepened when I was battling Leukaemia as a kid, to the lessons I had to learn in more recent years dealing with mental health demons. Light and shade of the set mirrors the extreme dynamics of life experiences which I try to express in a raw and relatable way.”
