News: Tenzin Choegyal, Matt Corby, and Rohin Jones (The Middle East) Unite For Meditative Album “Snow Flower” – Out Today

TENZIN CHOEGYAL, MATT CORBY, AND ROHIN JONES (THE MIDDLE EAST) UNITE FOR MEDITATIVE ALBUM “SNOW FLOWER” – OUT TODAY
Today marks the release of “Snow Flower,” an album that stands as a testament to the powerful collaboration between Grammy-nominated Tibetan artist Tenzin Choegyal, and acclaimed multi-instrumentalists MattCorby and Rohin Jones, and songwriter Alex Henriksson.
In a world that constantly urges us to do more, we often lose touch with the quieter, more sacred parts of ourselves. “Snow Flower” invites you to slow down, turn inward, to pause amidst the rush and rediscover the stillness that lies within. Let this album be a gentle guide to inner peace, reflection, and simplicity.

Recorded at Rainbow Valley Studios on Bundjalung country, “Snow Flower” is not just an album but a meditative odyssey. Produced by Corbyand Henriksson, the album infuses the healing frequency of 432Hz, known for its calming effects and ability to lower heart rate, into its tracks, providing a sanctuary of sound amidst the bustle of modern life.

SNOW FLOWER – AVAILABLE NOW
The album, inspired by the transient beauty of snowflakes in Tibet—referred to as ‘Khaway Metok’ (snow flowers)—explores themes of impermanence and the beauty of life through its minimalistic yet profound lyrics. Tenzin Choegyal draws upon his Tibetan nomadic roots, blending traditional Tibetan instruments like the dranyen (Tibetan lute) with modern musical elements, creating a meditative soundscape that resonates with universal themes of peace and introspection.

The title track Snow Flower, and subsequent releases such as Mountain and the focus single Passage exemplifies the album’s rich narrative and auditory diversity.

Based on three continuous rounds of multi-syllable, multi-timbre mantras, each begun by Choegyal at different breathing points, Passage serves as a time-travelling song of trance-like splendour aimed at calming the mind and resetting the soul. Enhanced by Matt Corby’s synth drone and Rohin Jones’s innovative electric guitar played with a violin bow, the track’s otherworldly ambience is a profound meditation on the preciousness of human life and our potential for positive transformation.

Exclusive Insight: Dive deeper into the making of “Snow Flower” with Tenzin Choegyal in an exclusive long-form interview. Watch as Tenzin discusses the inspiration behind the album, his collaboration with fellow artists, and the fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds.
Tenzin Choegyal reflects on the collaboration: “Creating “Snow Flower” with Matt, Rohin, and Alex was a journey into the core of musical innovation and spiritual exploration. This album, rooted in the principles of Tibetan Buddhism, invites listeners to a space of dissolving and discovering, where music uplifts and heals.”

Matt Corby adds, “Working on “Snow Flower” was an incredible experience. The synergy we found in the studio blending traditional and modern sounds has resulted in a piece of art that is as functional as it is beautiful, offering a guide for reflection and mindfulness in everyday life.”

“Snow Flower”—a sonic embrace that offers a breath of fresh air to the soul amidst the complexities of modern life – is now available for streaming and purchase on all major platforms.

News: PhaseOne Drops New Single “PULSE” w/ Banks Arcade

SHARES SINGLE “PULSE”
FEAT. BANKS ARCADE

SECOND SINGLE OFF UPCOMING ALBUM ‘TERRANOVA’
OUT LATER THIS YEAR VIA SOUNDS OF MAYHEM

Sydney-born electronic music powerhouse PhaseOne is back with monster track PULSE featuring Banks Arcade. The new single serves as the second from PhaseOne’s highly anticipated debut album,TERRANOVA‘, out later this year, setting the tone for a project that fuses bone-crushing bass with relentless metal energy.

“PULSE is a high-energy, metalcore-inspired breaks track—a genre I’d never experimented with before, but one I’m glad I did,” says PhaseOne. “It was a lot of fun to write. Josh from Banks Arcade nailed the vocals, bringing everything together perfectly. The track has a pulsating rhythm that drives its energy. I’ve played it at a few shows now—each time, it gets the crowd bouncing. It’s got that infectious groove that really sticks with you.

Known for pioneering the fusion of metal and bass music, PhaseOne has carved out a reputation for his genre-defying sound, bridging the gap between headbangers and ravers—whether in the pit or at a festival. PULSE follows on from earlier single SOS, is a high-octane sonic assault featuring metalcore leaders Make Them Suffer. The track debuted on triple j Home and Hosed and blends Make Them Suffer’s signature emotional intensity and powerful vocals with PhaseOne’s face-melting sound design and earth-shattering drops.

As a pioneer of metal-meets-dubstep, PhaseOne has built a dedicated global following with his aggressive yet intricate production. With SOS and PULSE leading the charge, his debut album promises to be his most ambitious work yet—an evolution of his signature hybrid sound, pushing the boundaries between bass music and heavy music like never before.

PhaseOne’s distinct sound (a unique blend of hard-hitting Bass Music infused with Metal) quickly found him a niche in the hardline EDM landscape. His music has been described as “a symphony of filth”, and boy are they not wrong. As a producer, guitarist, and songwriter PhaseOne expertly crafts a “metal meets electronic” sound that not only defies genres but has earned him multiple number 1s, and millions of streams globally.

PhaseOne’s DJ performances bring unmatched energy to the stage; it’s a show he’s toured extensively in global markets including North America, South America, Europe, Australia, the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe, playing sold-out headline shows and festivals such as Tomorrowland, EDC, Rampage and Lost Lands, with some of the biggest names in electronic music. His music is loved and supported by artists such as Skrillex, Illenium, Slander, and Excision.

PULSE featuring Banks Arcade and SOS featuring Make Them Suffer are out now and streaming everywhere. ‘TERRANOVA’ is coming soon via Sounds Of Mayhem.

BAND SHARES VISUALIZER FOR UNDER THE KNIFE

“…as always, Thornhill have honed in on their ‘go big or go home’ mentality, and yet again, it’s paid off big time.” Forte Magazine

“…BODIES feels spontaneous…open your ears, and let the energy Thornhill pour into album number three flow through every muscle and sinew.” – Beat Magazine

There’s not a single sound or moment on this album that feels forced or oddly out of place. Thornhill have produced a masterpiece, a true work of art and indeed a solid contender for album of the year.”Everblack Media

“BODIES is a compelling and impressive record that marks an exciting new direction for Thornhill. It’s a brave exploration of new sonic territory and a reflection of the band’s growth and maturity.”The AU Review, 4/5

“BODIES endeavours (and succeeds) in capturing the essence and energy of “Thornhill right now”…in literal and figurative perfect harmony, BODIES is an astounding creation.”Spotlight Report, 4/5

“Thornhill has thrived in reinvention, and BODIES is proof of that—the album is instinctual and wild…It’s an album that doesn’t tell you about obsession—it pulls you into its thrall. You don’t just hear these songs—you feel them, live inside them.” Amnplify

“Whether you are a long time fan or have only just jumped on board, you are in for most likely one of the most impressive releases of the year. Thornhill have breathed air back into their own lungs.”The Alt Journal

“This has all the brawn of The Dark Pool and all the romantic Deftones-worship of Heroine…the buzz is real. Let the Bodies hit the floor.” Sense Music Media

“…there are definitely stand out tracks that put it into consideration for the band’s best work, put to record. A worthy follow up, and an exciting road map as to what we can expect next from the Melbourne four piece.” The Live Wire

The wait is over, and today an astonishing new era for Melbourne’s Thornhill has arrived via their brand new studio album BODIES, out now via UNFD.

A dauntless pastiche of creative freedom and ingenuity, BODIES finds Thornhill in full flight, with its 11 tracks layered with authenticity and electrifying execution, cementing the group’s status yet again as one of Australia’s most engaging heavy acts.

Opening with percolating bounce via DIESEL, BODIES thrives with caustic urgency (Revolver), swooning melodics soaked in oscillating chaos and clarity (Silver Swarm), serene reprieves (fall into the wind), grinding swagger (TONGUES) and mellow R&B flavours (CRUSH), offering an expansive and  kaleidoscopic palette that circles upbeat buoyancy and crushing heaviness; a snapshot of Thornhill in their most assured form to date.

Coinciding with the release today of BODIES, Thornhill have also shared a visualizer for the album’s haunting penultimate track under the knife.

“I wanted to convey an underlying fear of being unnoticed or forgotten,” the band shares of under the knife, “the notion of a silhouette falling between fingers conveys a message of fleeting moments—something that can be grasped but never fully held. Within the atmosphere of the instrumentation, a haunting exploration of love and lust, blends these two feelings into something more tragic, yet hopefully relatable. There’s a delicate balance between submission (“underneath your knife”) and resistance (“I don’t wanna know yet”), which creates a soft tension, a push/pull that moves with song dynamics.”

Watch the visualizer for under the knife here:

“BODIES marks a bold evolution in our ever-developing sound,” shares Thornhill of their latest opus. “Heroine was defined by its meticulously crafted and tightly woven concept, but the weight of this careful construction sometimes overshadowed the energy of the music itself, leaving some listeners feeling disconnected. With BODIES, we have embraced a more immediate, unfiltered approach that feels like a lightning bolt, looking to capture the energy of “Thornhill right now.”

“The album thrives on spontaneity and freedom, foregoing rigid concepts in favor of pure, in-your-face authenticity. It’s less about delivering a carefully constructed narrative and more about creating a visceral, open-ended experience. BODIES serves as a sonic moodboard—a collection of feelings and vibes—intentionally left open to interpretation. It has an upbeat and almost celebratory, party energy at times, but also retains all the emotion and intensity Thornhill are known for, making it our heaviest and most explosive work to date.”

“With BODIES, we invite listeners to connect on their own terms. It’s raw, personal, and unapologetically immediate—a record that thrives in the moment, capturing our band at our most authentic and free.”

Globally renowned for their artful and engaging heavy creations, Thornhill possess a flair for gripping charm forged with unforgettable ferocity. Via their ARIA Award-nominated 2022 album Heroine, Thornhill cemented their reputation as one of the most innovative heavy acts in the Australian scene, with Heroine debuting at #3 on the ARIA Albums charts, and at #1 on the Australian Albums charts.

While Heroine revelled in lush textures and bold, curated aesthetics, the upcoming third studio album BODIES finds Thornhill opening the floodgates to spontaneity. Balancing intensity with boundless creative freedom and ingenuity, album #3 for Thornhill is not only a definitive snapshot of a band in full flight just shy of a decade into their staggering career; it’s also a celebration of authenticity and gripping dynamism from one of Australia’s most engaging heavy acts.

Thornhill have amassed a heaving array of accolades over the years, including triple j’s Feature Album and additions to countless Best Of The Year listings for their 2019 release The Dark Pool. And in 2023 and 2024, the band gifted some insatiable new material courtesy of standalone singles Viper Room and Obsession, as well as a live album, Live On Tour!, boasting performances captured in the wild across the globe that released in June.

Earlier this year, Thornhill supported A Day To Rememberfor the legendary Florida group’s only Knotfest Australiaheadline sideshow, and also performed three special intimate album preview shows for Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney late last month, with all three shows entirely sold out.

Looking ahead, Thornhill are set to return to North America for a headline run, kicking off next week supported by Avoid, Ocean Grove and Banks Arcade, and will also perform at Louder Than Life in Kentucky this September, and Aftershock in California in October.

News: Ball Park Music release ‘Coast is Clear’ alongside much-anticipated Like Love album and a massive 30-date AU/NZ tour

Where the album’s title track, ‘Like Love’, shows a softer and more introspective side of the band and ‘Please Don’t Move To Melbourne’ had you singing along to its upbeat melody and undeniable chorus, the album’s third single, ‘Coast Is Clear’, gives us a profound insight into the effects of getting caught up in the day-to-day grind instead of being present for life’s everyday joys and the debilitating guilt that comes with that realisation, all set to a beautiful, hopeful, building rhythm begging that “Someday You’ll Appear”.

Ball Park Music singer-songwriter Sam Cromack says of the song, “This song has been kicking around since before Weirder & Weirder, but it remained on the sidelines for some reason. When we revisited it during the making of this album it became one of our favourites. It was the first song we did when we arrived in Sydney to start recording. It began with me thinking how busy/absent/distracted I can feel not just as a parent, but as a person. I often find it hard to unplug from the rush of the world and to be present with those I love, and am left feeling intense guilt and self-loathing at my inability to change. I originally sang ‘Someday I’ll appear’ but it felt much better when changed to ‘you’. The original feeling of the song remained but now this mysterious open-ended question was cast over who it is that may appear one day. I liked that”.

Today Ball Park Music also release their much-anticipated album, Like Love. Named after the title track, their 8th studio album contains ‘Like Love’, ‘Please Don’t Move To Melbourne’and ‘Coast Is Clear’ and further proves the band as one of Australia’s most influential acts of the last decade, expanding on their incredible catalogue of songs that have sound-tracked so many lives.

Since the release of the band’s critically acclaimed 2011 debut album, Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs, Ball Park Music have secured six consecutive Top 10 ARIA Album Chart spots, with three of those records debuting at #2, while four albums have also been certified Platinum.

Ball Park Music have also had an unbelievable 13 songs place in triple j’s Hottest 100, including two in the top 10, with ‘Cherub’ at #4 and ‘Stars In My Eyes’ at #8, while all seven of their previous records have appeared in the top 10 triple j Album of the Year listener pollin the year of their release.

Further critical acclaim has come through the multitude of awards recognising the band’s achievements, including winning a J Award and multiple Queensland Music Awards, as well as being nominated for 11 ARIA Awards, three J Awards, three AIR Awards, two National Live Music Awards and one nomination each from the APRA Awards, Rolling Stone Australia Awards and Channel [V] Awards.

Now, you can get a sneak-peak, behind-the-scenes insight into how Ball Park Music created Like Love, via their incredibly candid in-studio documentary, ‘World Behind Your Eyes‘, captured by filmmaker and friend of the band Jason Tran. Episodes onetwo andthree are out now.

You can also order Ball Park Music’s Like Love on vinyl in two limited edition styles (‘Saffron’ and ‘Clear & Orange Splatter’), alongside Like Love t-shirts, a jumper and mug, as well as an embroidered ‘Please Don’t Move To Melbourne’ t-shirt all via the Ball Park Music Merch Store.

To cap it all off, Ball Park Music also performed an incredibly beautiful cover of Imogen Heaps’ iconic song ‘Hide and Seek’ for triple j’s Like A Version this morning, complete with some goose bump inducing harmonies.

News: TRACY CHAPMAN Celebrates 35th Anniversary of Eponymous Debut Album Resissued and Once Again Available on Vinyl

TRACY CHAPMAN
Celebrates 35th Anniversary of Eponymous Debut Album
Resissued and Once Again Available on Vinyl

We’ve witnessed the worst this world can throw our way, Chapman suggests on her debut. But the album creates a world where no force exists without a counter. The worst of what we’ve endured, she also offers, makes righteous justice inevitable. It’s a worldview that many could tune into. By the end of the summer of 1988, a few months after the Nelson Mandela tribute, Tracy Chapman was a platinum album and the singer was a star. Chapman came to the world stage with a perspective crystallized in society’s margins. Yet, for all the violence and hopelessness Chapman captures in her lyrics, there’s an equal measure of radical and naive conviction that a more just world is on its way. The album was produced in isolation from popular music, and in defiance of it. She wasn’t a herald of change within the industry so much as she was an example of the innovation to be found outside of it.’ – Pitchfork [January 2019]

Today, Elektra/Rhino Records has reissued Tracy Chapman’s eponymous debut album on vinyl in celebration of its 35th anniversary.

Originally released by Elektra Records in April 1988, Tracy Chapman has long been unavailable on vinyl. This anniversary reissue has been prepared for release by Chapman and the album’s original producer, David Kershenbaum, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and sourced from an analogue master. The album package will also include an insert of translated lyrics, which accompanied the original international release.

Featuring the classic singles ‘Fast Car’, ‘Talkin’ Bout A Revolution’, and ‘Baby Can I Hold You’, the album earned three Grammy Awards and went on to become one of the most successful debuts of all time, peaking at #1 in multiple countries and selling more than 20 million copies worldwide. To this day, it still makes regular appearances on charts around the world, and is one of the most successful albums by a female artist in chart history.

Chapman comments, “I was just out of college when the album came out and for a young singer songwriter it was a dream come true – making a record, recording my own songs, releasing my first album. 1988, that year marked the beginning of what has been a humbling and thrilling experience, seeing fans around the world embrace these 11 songs. I really wanted to mark the 35th anniversary of the album, and so I am grateful to have this opportunity to reissue the record on vinyl.”

At the time of its original release, Rolling Stone wrote, ‘The production is subtle and streamlined, focused unyieldingly on Chapman’s acoustic guitar, her bluesy voice and her carefully wrought tales of characters in contemporary America who seek meaning in the face of society’s fragmentation. Chapman is equally direct about her political beliefs: ‘Poor people gonna rise up/And get their share/Poor people gonna rise up/And take what’s theirs,’ she insists on ‘Talkin’ Bout A Revolution’. Sentiments like these have led critics to view Chapman as a bridge between the Eighties folk revival and the more socially conscious folk movement of the Sixties. What Chapman has going for her is the sheer musicality of her songs and the expressive power of her voice.’ She ended 1988 being named Rolling Stone’s Best New Artist, and in 2021 the album was included in its list of Greatest Albums of All Time, and in 2024 ‘Fast Car’ was included in its list of 100 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Over the course of four decades and eight studio albums, Tracy Chapman has created a body of work that has been as consistently compelling as it is honest and uncompromising, eloquently telling stories with perennial appeal that are at once personal and universal. Impervious to trends, she has commendably stayed her musical course, earning the approbation of fans, critics and peers. Beginning with 1988’s multi-platinum Tracy Chapman, her musical journey has continued with Crossroads (1989), Matters Of The Heart (1992), 1995’s multi-platinum New Beginning (which featured the Grammy-winning single ‘Give Me One Reason’), Telling Stories (2000), Let It Rain (2002), Where You Live (2005), Our Bright Future (2008), and two best-selling compilations, Collection (2001) and Greatest Hits (2015). Along the way, in addition to her four Grammys, Chapman has earned an American Music Award, two Brits, and a Billboard Music Award.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Chapman was awarded an academic scholarship to the prestigious Wooster School in Danbury, Connecticut, and later attended Tufts University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology (in 2004 she received an honorary doctorate in fine arts from her alma mater). It was while she was there, in the Boston area, in the late 1980s that she began singing in coffee houses, night clubs and street performing around Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Chapman made her breakthrough performance at Nelson Mandela’s 70th birthday concert in London in 1988. In the words of the Guardian, ‘It was during the height of the era of fast-buck capitalism, at a televised concert celebrating Mandela’s birthday, that Chapman came out of nowhere and enthralled the world with her songs about social injustice. Just her, an acoustic guitar and a hushed Wembley Stadium.’ Since then, she has appeared frequently in support of social and humanitarian causes, including Amnesty International’s Human Rights Now! Tour, the annual Bridge School benefit concerts, the Nelson Mandela Free South Africa Concert, Farm Aid, Tibetan Freedom Festival, Vote for Change, the Driving Votes tour, San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and many others. Chapman made her theater debut composing the music for a new production of Athol Fugard’s classic 1961 play Blood Knot, which opened at San Francisco’s A.C.T. in 2008, and was directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. In 2012, Chapman performed at the 35th annual Kennedy Center Honors as part of the Buddy Guy tribute. In 2014, she sat on the domestic documentary jury at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2015, she was invited by David Letterman to sing ‘Stand By Me’ during his final season hosting The Late Show, commanding a stage entirely on her own for an emotional performance of a classic song. In November 2020, the night before the US federal elections, Chapman performed ‘Talkin’ Bout A Revolution’ on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Myers to encourage voter participation.

In February 2024, Chapman made a surprise appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards, collaborating with country superstar Luke Combs for an unforgettable duet of ‘Fast Car’. The performance was historic, representing a moment of confluence, coming 35 years to the month since Chapman first performed ‘Fast Car’ at the Grammys and after a year of unprecedented success for Combs with the song. Introduced to a new audience, ‘Fast Car’ achieved new chart peaks across genres (including #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and #2 on the Hot 100), and won two awards at the 2023 CMA Awards (notably Song of the Year for Chapman, who made history as the first Black songwriter to win in the category). Following the Grammy performance, Chapman’s original version re-entered charts around the world (including the Hot 100), as did her debut album. The New York Times wrote, ‘The song felt incredibly spacious – larger than the limitations of genre, welcoming and expansive enough to hold every single person it had ever touched, regardless of the markers of identity that so often divide us. It was a rare reminder of music’s unique ability to obliterate external differences. ‘Fast Car’ is about something more internal and universal. It is a song about the wants and needs that make us human: the desire to be happy, to be loved, to be free.’

By the end of the year, the Grammy performance had made Google’s top 5 trending songs as part of its Year in Search 2024, and ‘Fast Car’ recently entered Spotify’s Billions Club. The performance also topped the New Yorker’s list of Best Performances of 2024, where it was described as “Five and a half blissful minutes. Chapman was back, her voice as lucid and knowing as ever. Combs gazed at her with fanboy reverence as they traded lyrics that told a poignant story. The duet gave the impression – as fleeting as that joyride in the fast car – that one great song could bridge America’s divisions.”

MELBOURNE SKA ORCHESTRA RELEASE CINEMATIC NEW SINGLE ‘WALLS OF JERICHO’ ANNOUNCE GLOBAL ‘THE BALLAD OF MONTE LOCO’ TOUR JULY – OCTOBER

The explosive ARIA Award-winning ska juggernaut that is Melbourne Ska Orchestra returns today armed with a cinematic new single, Walls of Jericho, alongside the announcement of a mammoth global tour set to span Australia, Japan and Canada across July to October 2025. A charismatic addition to their ever-burgeoning repertoire, Walls of Jericho also marks the second taste of the band’s, as yet unannounced, forthcoming new album, following on from the group’s 2024 upbeat track John Wayne.

The Australian leg of ‘The Ballad of Monte Loco’ tour will kick off at Liberty Hall in Sydney on August 1, before moving through Canberra, Geelong, Castlemaine, Hobart, Adelaide, Fremantle, Brisbane and Gold Coast, fittingly finishing up with a home town show at 170 Russell in Melbourne on October 3. Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 4 from www.melbourneskaorchestra.com/.

A track bustling with undulating reggae rhythms, hazy undertones and brassy grit, Walls of Jericho instantly draws to mind classic Spaghetti Western films, channelling the widescreen Western storytelling of Ennio Morricone along with some other key stylistic nods, internally and externally, for good measure. “Burning Spear and Toots and the Maytals always whisper in our ears when we’re deep in that rootsy zone. And a touch of the MSO magico…” the band shares of their latest single. And amongst the jubilant melodics and sparkling delivery, Walls of Jericho also delivers a powerful message, drawn from historic tales that still permeate today; albeit with an uplifting conclusion, as the band explain, “Walls of Jericho is a reflection on the futility of war and how history often repeats itself when we fail to learn. It questions how easily people are led into conflict, often by those with something to gain. The story draws from ancient symbolism—the biblical tale of Jericho—and uses that as a metaphor for breaking down oppressive systems. Despite its heavy themes, the tune ends with an uplifting singalong chorus—because we always want to shine a light on hope, unity and the strength of people when they stand together.”

Produced by Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s enigmatic leader Nicky Bomba, along with MSO’s studio crew, Walls of Jerichobrings a fresh lens to the Melbourne Ska Orchestra sound, with the single offering a second glance into the band’s unannounced new album, fresh on the heels of their 2024 single John Wayne. “We’re thrilled to share that Walls of Jericho is the second taste of our forthcoming album, and yes, John Wayne is riding with us on this journey!” the band share. “This record takes a wider lens on our musical journey—dipping into cinematic reggae, big-band storytelling, and soulful protest vibes. Expect a melting pot of deep grooves, lush horn lines, and a global soundscape that keeps one foot on the dancefloor and the other in the clouds.”

Forming in the early 2000s, Melbourne Ska Orchestra bring together some of Australia’s finest musicians and performers, helmed by Nicky Bomba(John Butler Trio, Bomba, Busyamento). An orchestra with a difference comprising up to 26 members, the group’s 2013 debut self-titled release earned MSO their first of many ARIA Award nominations, with the band going on to win Best World Music Album in 2016 for their sophomore album, Sierra Kilo Alpha, and another win for Best World Music Album in 2019 for their compilation album One Year of Ska; an opus that saw MSO release a song every week for an entire year, culminating 52 tracks for the final result.

With multiple sold out national shows, major multiple festival appearances, three international tours, and multiple awards and nominations in their wake, Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s explosive and infectious live performance, coupled with their unique take on the ska tropes, has seen them travel the world, from Montral to New York, Istanbul, London, Tokyo and Mexico, while also garnering approval from reggae and ska pioneers like Stranger Cole, Owen Grab, Carlos Malcolm, Ranking Roger and Neville Staples along the way. And in 2025, it’s not just new music that is stirring in the world of Melbourne Ska Orchestra, but also a global tour featuring brand new material locked in for July – October 2025; and it’s set to be an incredible exploration of new and old favourite MSO moments alongside lashing of energy and joy. “It’s going to be wild!” shares the band of their upcoming global tour. “These shows will be a blend of the high-energy madness people know us for, plus some deeper, more cinematic moments that really lean into the new record. We’re taking the full 20-piece band across Australia, and the international legs—packed with horns, rhythm, and joyful firepower. Expect dancing, storytelling, and a sonic journey like no other.”

For now, the latest single from Melbourne Ska Orchestra is undeniably yet another glimmering jewel in the band’s spectacular catalogue; perfect for late nights driving down a desert highway as much as it’s also a track yearning to be witnessed live. “Walls of Jericho has been brewing for a while,” the band concludes, “and it’s one of those tracks that really stretches the MSO palette. It’s always exciting to release something that feels both timely and timeless, and this tune really hits that mark for us.”

Tickets for Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s ‘The Ballad Of Monte Loco’ Tour go on sale to the general public on April 4 from www.melbourneskaorchestra.com/.

NARDIA SHARES SULTRY NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘IS IT YOU’ SINGLE LAUNCH SHOW SET FOR MELBOURNE THIS MONTH

Effortlessly smooth and laden with charm, the brand new single Is It You out today from award-winning songwriter Nardia offers a glimpse into the talented Melbourne artist’s hotly-anticipated album Own Every Scar set for release this July, with Nardia also dropping a fittingly whimsical accompanying music video today for her dreamlike new single. Nardia will also officially launch her track live in action with a special hometown show on Sunday April 13 at Brunswick Ballroom.

Drawing on echoes of Childish Gambino’s smooth R&B textures along with the heartfelt storytelling of Adele and Carole King, Is It You is a bright yet deeply raw outing, with Nardia effortlessly weaving her powerful vocals against personal narratives and a glossy backdrop of soulful R&B. A joyful fusion of soul, depth and raw emotion, Is It You ultimately details the kindling of attraction, as Nardia herself elaborates, “Is it You captures that moment of intrigue when you meet someone and feel an undeniable pull toward them. There’s an instant spark, but beneath the surface, questions linger like who are they beyond what they show the world? Is the connection real, or is it just the allure of the unknown? The song explores the tension between attraction and curiosity, the desire to uncover someone’s true essence, and the mystery that makes love both exciting and uncertain, leaving you feeling uncomfortably excited.”

Teaming up with Mat Rob at Hope St Studios, also Nardia’s main co-writer for all of her original songs, Is It You also saw Nardia work alongside Ivan Khatchoyan (Cookin’ on 3 Burners, The Traffic, Thando), with mixing and mastering by Choi Productions. And to bring the creative vision of Is It You to life in a visual setting, Nardia paired with Matthew Kelley for the accompanying music video, with the sublime concept springing to life in an extremely short space of time. “I worked closely with Matthew Kelley from Mindseye Productions,” shares Nardia, “and from the moment he heard the track, he was inspired. Within 24 hours, he had a fully formed concept and couldn’t wait to share his vision with me. His passion and professionalism were incredible—he created a detailed mood board, an animatic, and even scheduled a rehearsal before the shoot to ensure every moment was captured perfectly. The result is a visually stunning music video that brings the song’s emotions to life through cinematic storytelling. Set in a retro diner where reality blurs with fantasy, the clip transports viewers into a dreamlike world of longing and mystery. As neon lights flicker and time seems to stand still, we are left wondering—was it really him, or was she simply lost in a dream?”

Growing up with a blues guitarist father and surrounded by a family who played music, Nardia was drawn early on to music that told stories and moved people. Also drawn to the stage early on, over time Nardia would soon find her voice, both literally and figuratively, leading her to carving out a firm reputation for her breathtaking intensity and musical prowess. Imbued by music’s power to heal, connect and make people feel seen, Nardiahas captivated audiences at home and abroad over the years, previously supporting the likes of Russell Morris and Tex Perkins, and performing in the VIP lounges for Beyonce and Adele’s Australian tours, delivering soulful and memorable sets. Having also starred in the sold out musical Eulogy for a Genius, a Ray Charles tribute, Nardia also leads her own Etta James and B.B. King show with Jimi Hocking of The Screaming Jetsfame. Alongside her myriad of creative pursuits, Nardia also fronts the Melbourne-based collective Rambal, whose 2016 and 2018 releases Let Love and Live in Newcastle garnered them national attention, with the band also winning Group of the Year at the 2017 Australian Blues Music Awards and scoring a #1 on the Australian Blues Charts in 2017. Most recently, Nardia earned a Top 5 spot at the 2025 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, making her the only female artist to reach the finals among 400 acts; a feat that is definitely only the beginning of some incredible things to come for this talented artist. “It was an absolute honour to be selected as a finalist in the International Blues Challenge (top 5 out of 400 in the band category and was the only female),” Nardia says. “Heading to Memphis was a dream come true! Competing on such a prestigious global stage was a surreal experience, but beyond that, it provided an amazing opportunity to connect with some of the most talented musicians from around the world. As part of this opportunity, I had the privilege of meeting Darin James and Boo Mitchell, who will now be joining me on this exciting new chapter of my music career. This experience has already opened so many doors, and I can’t wait to see where it will take my music. With this new team, I’m working on a contemporary R&B album, but rest assured, my music will always be rooted in the jazz and blues that shaped my sound. Those soulful foundations are at the core of everything I do, and I’m thrilled to continue blending those influences with fresh, modern elements. It’s a thrilling time, and I’m eager to see where this next phase will lead!”

Nardia is set to launch Is It You officially in Melbourne, with a special show locked in on Sunday April 13 at Brunswick Ballroom. And boasting Nardia with a 10-piece band joining her, this is definitely set to be a night to remember, as Nardia elaborates, “My live shows are all about energy, storytelling, and emotion. I love taking the audience on a journey. One moment, you’ll be feeling every lyric deeply, and the next, you’ll be swept up in a powerful, soulful groove. Expect big vocals, a dynamic band, and an experience that leaves you feeling something long after the last note fades. For the single launch the band will feature a 10-piece band which will include the sweet sounds of harmonies from artists Jaydean Miranda and Tyra Lewis and a horn section featuring Charlie Woods and Nathaniel Sametz.”

Locked in to travel to Nashville the day after her single launch show to finalise her new album Own Every Scar, Is It You is the beginning of a beautiful journey for Nardia in 2025; and there’s plenty more magic yet to come.

“Releasing Is it You feels like a powerful new chapter in my journey,” Nardia concludes. “This song is deeply personal, yet universally relatable—it’s about self-reflection, love, and longing. There’s always a mix of excitement and vulnerability when putting something new out into the world, but I can’t wait for people to connect with it in their own way.”

Is It You is out today.

Own Every Scar is due out this July.
